Hmm, likely because Griz fans are fixated on the 4 plays, & MSU gave up 14 points vs the 8 Weber gave up. Outside of 2 Weber drives, MSU dominated the game, (Weber rushed for 181 & 14/30 passing for 151 Cats rushed for 347, 15/23 for 140) but it was played in the rain & was a sloppy outing from both teams. I"m looking forward to this weekend & expect both teams to play a clean game Saturday. I also expect the Cats to win. Just not sure which Cats.

I'm not going to say you guys lose if those don't happen. I think you probably do, but the game could go completely different. Lots of teams dominate the stat sheet and still lose. It happens a lot. I just do not understand why so many cat fans across the fandom insist that the 2 special teams touchdowns are in any way similar to the 4 safeties. They just aren't, and when you insist they are, people are going to call you out and make a bigger deal about it. Sometimes it's okay to just admit your team got really lucky.

As for this week, I expect the cats to win because I think they are playing better now than they were when they first played Weber, but this thread isn't about the cats or Weber, so I'll just leave it there. :lol:

Objectively? Because they’re both similarly rare. And to have TWO returns in the same game is even more rare. Probably not more rare than 4 safeties but still incredibly rare.

A kickoff return and punt return in the same game is less rare than 2 safeties in one game, let alone 4, but it still has nothing to do with my point.

Sure, you've forced 232 punts in the last three seasons and still somehow only have 5 bad snaps resulting in points.

Unforced errors they couldn’t have made if we hadn’t forced them to punt. And believe me, some teams can really struggle to force a team to punt. Sometimes even once in a game….

Credit to our defense forcing them to punt so often.

Everybody knows if you make them punt, they have to take four safeties.
"Hey, why did you guys give them 8 free points? What's wrong with you?"
"Coach, we had to, did you see what they did? They made us punt. We had no choice."

In the end it won’t matter. I’ll let people enjoy saying it’s the one single reason the Cats won that day. By tomorrow afternoon we’ll know. If we get zero safeties, which I expect, and beat them, which I also expect; I’ll be happy with that.

And lots of people in this site are saying if Lucas Johnson hadn’t been injured, the Griz would have beaten Weber and Sac St. By that logic, the Cats would have have had a larger margin of victory if Sean Chambers had played for MSU.

The Cats are healthier as a team now than when the season started (and when they played Weber). Tomorrow will fill in all the blanks that exist and also squash plenty of fan commentary occurring. I think the Bobcats will win by a couple scores. We shall see.
