NDSU is gone

Let’s see how ndsu fans feel around December 27th when they are playing bowling green in the Deeks Pizza Pride of Kentucky Bowl with 4000 in the stands.
Sensing alot of sour grapes here, if Montana were to be invited tommorow to the MWC conference you would be happier to see them say no and stay in the Big Sky?

Totally hypothetical here but if it were Montana instead of NDSU.. what nonconference schedule gets you more excited about the upcoming 2026 season.

A- home game with the Drake Bulldogs and an away game vs Oregon state Beavers

B- Potentially a game at Lsu tigers in front of 90,000 plus, hosting Montana State, at San diego State Aztecs and lastly hosting a team like Marshall thundering herd..pretty easy for me.

New D2 programs could move up and become dominant. CSU Pueblo probably has the best chance of teams in the RMAC which is the D2 conference I am familiar with. Central Washington seems like they could potentially be successful in the Big Sky.
But dominant? Don't think so.

Where are we getting the money to move up in your hypothetical scenario and is it football only or all sports? The MWC seems more open to football only which would point to UC Davis and the other Dakotas being the easiest options.

I wish we could schedule g6 teams for out of conference schedule with home and home agreement. It would be nice to play Boise st, or Nevada, Colorado St at home one year then play them there the next. It would be great games to get excited for but still be fcs but that won't happen. Sad but true. They don't want to take a chance to lose to a fcs team even though everyone knows we are just a good as they are. But it hurts their conference losing to a quote d2 school. That is what fbs thinks fcs is
Moot point since no FBS conferences permit their members to play in FCS venues. Doubt that changes.

But dominant? Don't think so.
Since 2011 CSU Pueblo has won their conference 8 times, and won 1 national championship which included an upset over Sam Houston State. The only D1 college in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico is Air Force which doesn’t recruit the same way as traditional colleges. I am not guaranteeing they will dominate but I think they could potentially. NDSU was just a dominant D2 program 20 years ago as well.

It all comes down to what is more important to the u or/and fans.
Do you want meaningful regular season games that every game be a 50/50 game and if we have a great year and win the conference we have an outside chance to the playoffs.
Or regular season schedule is not great. You should go anywhere from 12-0 or 8-4. Good chance of winning the conference almost every year. 99% chance making the playoffs and seeing wa griz filled only halfway on national TV. But we have a good chance for a natty.

Myself I rather have meaningful regular season games.

Why are you looking for the next diamond in the rough at d2 level instead thinking we could be the next diamond in the rough at fbs. Sounds you are committed at playing small no matter what. Looking for the next team that could challenge us instead who can we challenge against. I rather be wondering how we beat Boise st every year instead how we make sure we keep ahead of central wa

From Pete Thamel

NDSU to MWC is done

Sources: North Dakota State has agreed to a deal to join the Mountain West in football only for 2026. The school is expected to pay nearly $12 million to join the league, which is in addition to the $5 million it will pay the NCAA to move to FBS.

Kinda shitty that they’re going in 26 and leaving the MVFC hanging.

In a hypothetical money is not a concern. Thats the point of a hypothetical, you're not worrying about the reality of the situation that would hold you back.

I know I am probably in the minority on this but I personally prefer the FCS and even D2 to what the FBS currently is. I don’t want to lose our walk on program when it has been a key part of the Griz program history, NIL and transfer portal has been an issue in the FCS but it is an even bigger problem in the G6 of the FBS.

WTF are you talking about.

Shitty move yes but do you really blame them.
Look at the big sky. As football only. Remember ndsu other sports are in the summit league.
Who is the cash cows for the big sky in football only. Us and out shitty neighbor. The other schools do not bring in any money. They don't sell out any games, they look d2 on TV. And eyes on the TV is the important thing here. We have stadium, the atmosphere, and the HISTORY. No other schools can say what we or the scats can bring. So we split our brawl money for I think 5k to 10k for that game. We should get at least the whole contract for that game and sell it nationally. How much money do you think the um and st can sell that game for? And right now we get screwed. Let alone the playoffs we get nothing again. So I can see if we are football only school we can f___ off big sky. You used as long enough we are out of here. But we do not have that luxury.

We have some T-Buff fans here. Are they mad? What’s the feeling on Biso-Nation? The Bufffans must be so fucking pissed, right? Without the chance to be subjectively crowned the ~50th(?) best CFB team in the nation, it’s basically meaningless.
