milt's also on the national advisory board for griz athletics. he's a great guy, but when you're this involved you should recuse yourself.

What should he recuse himself from? Milt's partner Darla Keck represented the 2 guys involved in the taser matter.
read the previous posts and pay close attention to what milt says. he states he does pro bono and discounted work for athletes, is on the advisory board, represented donaldson, etc. so maybe in his advisory capacity he should've advised foley and the guys to seek out a different law firm for help.

It's not an ncaa violation to provide pro bono services to athletes, as long as it isn't arranged by the school, according to an article in the Wall St Journal. See thread I'll start now on the article/subject. It's my understanding that Darla Keck had known Kemp previously, by the way. That's probably why she did the work.

Definitely an interesting discussion. One which I don't pretend to know much about, but it would be interesting to know if Kemp's representation was, in fact, Pro Bono/discounted (I belive many have insisted otherwise), and if Milt/Keck regularly represent UM students in criminal matters free of charge.

Can someone explain "excessive benefit." Is it one hot dog or two over a period of time? If such a rule exists wouldn't you think that every student athlete would be instructed that they can not receive X amount of food/drink over a given period of time. It seems odd that a societal entity is this concerned about calories.

So can we all officially label this investigation "Wiener-gate"?! :)

Any news on the NCAA ruling? Solid sources on this board said it was coming in April, and then May.

ummm, it did. As has been posted repeatedly, UM and the ncaa are in negotiations over the imposition of penalties for the evil sin of providing too much of that melted fake cheese-shit on some post game nachos.

(but I'm sure you already know this and are just cruising around in your trolling boat).

Everyone in Bozeman is going to soon be disappointed in the slap on the wrist we’re currently negotiating with the NCAA. There is no way we will be sanctioned for the ticky tack crap that was found.

If the trolls on the board really bother you I think you are taking things way to series. I say don’t ban any of them especially growler. He's a prick for sure but he still adds quite a bit to the discussions on this board.

Everettgriz has no room to talk, he has been trolling scatnation for years.

Oddly, you seem to be the only one bothered.

Not bothered, just perplexed by your constant whining about trolls when you may be the biggest troll of all.

Really? So it's taken this long of an investigation, and then a lengthy "Negotiation" process to determine if UM will lose one or two hours pf practice time a week? Another poster talked about what had already been leaked... and you say "ticky tack", but we're obviously talking about more than extra ketchup on hot dogs here. Legal representation of arrested players, playing games with ineligible players, not doing enough to minimize players getting in trouble with the law, and an overall "lack of institutional control" are some of the relatively major things Iv'e heard. As someone else pointed out, they're probably trying to come to a compromise on the issues of vacated wins, loss of scholarships, and potentially post season bans. Personally I hope the ban doesn't happen, because I want the CATS to beat you senseless twice in one year! :thumb:

Keep dreamin' dude!

FWIW my brother in law (a former Big Sky AD - not here) says the likely sticking point in the negotiations IS a post season ban. Prolly one year. His feeling is the year in question that we have offered to vacate the wins is also a year we made a deep run in the play-offs. I'm hoping he is wrong, but strangely it makes sense (if anything regarding the NCAA makes sense)

Jim Foley's involvement in the tazer-gate would appears (to him) to be the problem.

Wasn't too long ago that many cat fans were proclaiming the death penalty was coming. What happened to all of those insiders?
