NCAA ruling

"It is true that our entire firm has been involved with the university over the years, with scholarships and donations that don't just have to do with athletics," Datsopoulos said.
Datsopoulos said the firm has represented athletes pro bono in the past, but said the Johnson, Kemp and Donaldson cases all involved fees.
yes, he's a donor.

datso's firm doesn't have an agreement with u.m. to represent our athletes or students, but it, along with other firms and lawyers, represent our athletes so often that there is probably a presumption among the athletes that they will get pro bono or greatly discounted legal representation in the event they get in trouble.

Yeah, this may not have come to light had there not been so many representations needed :)

Why wouldn't Milt be a booster? He has lived in Missoula his entire life and was a good athlete himself.

milt's also on the national advisory board for griz athletics. he's a great guy, but when you're this involved you should recuse yourself.

People still go to Rockin' Rudys?????

I stopped going after they quit renting records. But I did hear that too many paid coaches is one of the NCAA allegations.
seriously? or is this some kind of rockin rudy inside joke?

Are y'all listening to yourselves? Holy shit. The NCAA must be the most pathetic sports organization since Prairie View. It's like the IRS auditing individuals because they don't hope to succeed in auditing a Fortune 500. If the Griz get busted it better be something real. The sooner the SEC gives the NCAA the bird, the better. What a crock. I saw a Griz player talking on a cell phone to his parents after one of the last home game wins last season (when we still had a glimmer of post season hope). I heard him tell his folks if they win again next week they should make the playoffs and that he was hungry and could they put a few bucks in his debit account so he could go eat. Eye opener. Some of these guys are truly scraping by. I wanted to take this kid (not saying who it was) out for a 20 oz steak on the spot. The NCAA profits off the back of thousands of kids like this and keeps them from any compensation, even food? What a sham. Somebody file a class action on behalf of the un-compensated athletes who pay NCAA salaries.

What should he recuse himself from? Milt's partner Darla Keck represented the 2 guys involved in the taser matter.

read the previous posts and pay close attention to what milt says. he states he does pro bono and discounted work for athletes, is on the advisory board, represented donaldson, etc. so maybe in his advisory capacity he should've advised foley and the guys to seek out a different law firm for help.

nope. just highly concerned and know others are as well. if any obsessing is going on its you obsessing over me. nothing better to do?

Nice spin job.

Your dozen or so posts on a thread with this subject matter is predictable, at best. Played out would be a more accurate description. I'm sure you are very "concerned". Nice try.

I’ll try to explain this to you, but I doubt it will do any good.

I poke fun at posters like you because you are a dime a dozen with your neat little “I’m more objective than you” shtick. The sky is always falling, the situation is always grim, and anyone who doesn’t agree with you has their head in the sand, wearing maroon colored glasses, or some other cute little analogy.

I happen to know a great deal about the investigation and the anticipated outcome. However, I’m not going to abuse my personal relationships and run my mouth on an anonymous message board under the bullshit guise that I am "bringing something to the table".

Spin it how you will, but that’s the truth.

The last words is yours “concerned” fan.

well if you know a great deal about all this then tell me in a pm where i'm off the mark in what i'm saying then i'll come on here and say, 'sorry everyone, but what i said about "x" has been proven wrong.' anyone (and some have) on the board is welcome to send me a pm and correct me, if they don't want to do it in a post. i don't mind being corrected, but you might have to answer a question or two.

It's not an ncaa violation to provide pro bono services to athletes, as long as it isn't arranged by the school, according to an article in the Wall St Journal. See thread I'll start now on the article/subject. It's my understanding that Darla Keck had known Kemp previously, by the way. That's probably why she did the work.
