NCAA Playoffs

So far, form has held in the Sweet Sixteen, with the top seeds, 'Nova and Okie, winning decisively. #5 Maryland jumped out early on #1 Kansas, but they settled down by the 8 min TV timeout -- down to just 3 points.

Gets more interesting tomorrow when some of the double-digit seeds play.

Following form continued: Both #1 seeds won fairly convincingly, so all the games today went to the top seeds.

Duke has had some other games where they didn't look great ... but I'm starting to believe a bit more in Oregon. They looked damn good. After a back-and-forth first half, they just steadily pulled away from Duke.

Saturday will be a couple of great match ups with Kansas vs Villanova and Oregon vs Oklahoma. I don't know how it could get much better than that.

Earlier in the year I watched Kansas vs Oklahoma and it was perhaps the best basketball game I ever saw. Kansas won 109 - 106 in 3 overtimes. That Buddy Hield for Oklahoma is one great clutch player.

Hmmm, must be something that's catching. It was not nearly as egregious, but Wisconsin pissed away a chance to win against Notre Dame because they couldn't handle pressure either, like Northern Iowa. Strange, since Wisconsin is a strong defensive team ... so you'd thing they'd be use to it.

WSU loses 85-87. 6 players fouled out. Still a good showing for a 7 seed (and the 6 seed at the conference tourney) on the road.

Ducks go down. Oklahoma destroyed them. West Coast basketball is all over for the year. PAC 12 was overrated!

But so did Kansas -- the #1, #1 seed. If I'm a top seed in a bracket, I'm starting to sweat right now -- particularly since their opponents tomorrow (Syracuse and Notre Dame) are low seeds on big runs. Wonder how long, if ever, none of the #1 seeds made it to the final four.

I need North Carolina to beat Notre Dame on Sunday. If they win, I will have 3 of the Final 4 picked. I am glad I picked Villanova and Oklahoma to beat Kansas and Oregon.

I have a UNC/Oklahoma in the Championship, with UNC winning it all. #gotarheels.

What a crazy year it's shaping up to be!

With less than 1:30 left in the game #10 seed Syracuse leads #1 seed Virginia by 4 points!

Well, this could still happen, but half of it is a bit shaky right now. Nova playing well and OK -- down by 12-15 right now -- is starting to look desperate, and taking bad shot. Still ... we've seen bigger comebacks already. :)

Hmmm, "shaky" is not the right word. 'Nova is killing the Okies ... by 23 points with less than 10 min to go.

Ooooogly. That 40+ point blowout in the final four was brutal. Kinda puts the Griz first round loss to Syracuse a couple years ago in perspective. Ironic that OU blew out 'Nova earlier this season.

Syracuse is going to be tough for a while. Tyler Lydon, freshman, came off the bench and played 30 minutes, only had 8 pts but that one put back slam was pretty amazing.

In an interview, he said he planned to stay in school. But I'd guess just one more year to bulk up a bit more and he's going to be getting offers nobody in his right mind can turn down.

I hate Oklahoma now!!!
Somebody lose $$$ on the spread? :( :(

Depends on how you define losing money. I was 1 of 7 people still in the running to win the Tootell and Tucker tournament challenge. It cost nothing and pays $100 for 3rd, $250 for 2nd, and $500 for 1st. I needed UNC and OU to win, then UNC win the Championship game to be the 1st place winner.

I debated the OU/Villanova game over and over. I chose OU because of the great Buddy Hield (sp?). I could see myself rooting for OK more than Villanova. Anyway, OU losing in the semi final game ruined it all. Now, I know why I don't root for OK very often. :thumb:
