Everyone’s missing the point. It won’t matter if Gresch plays or not.

They’ll probably hang 50 on us.

Not saying you are wrong but that is a lot of points brewskis. Do you feel they will run all over is? Destroy our pass rush and pass for 500? Do you predict more turnovers and short fields for NAU? More bad penalties? All of the above?
Well NAU is a GOOD offensive team....and we are an especially bad defensive team with a turnover problem. We have allowed an average of over 300/game through the air up until now, anytime opponents run outside the tackles there is always space, and our special teams have been lousy too.

Weber only scored 25 and 17 on MSU and Cal Poly, respectively. Then they go and score on every possession in the 1st half against us. And end up with 41. Something tells me our defense is gonna go and get housed again.

So if we are allowing over 300 passing yard/game, what are our opponents allowing considering that we have passed for over 300 yards in every one of our games? Not saying our defense doesn’t need to tighten down but c’mon man, despite the horrible situation they were put in during the first half of the Weber game, they played pretty damn well the second half.

Because Weber was up 34-6 AT HALFTIME and took the foot off the pedal to minimize risk of turnovers....which played into Semore’s gameplan. They scored on every possession in the first half...come on.

We are dead last in the BSC in defense....how do you plan to polish this turd?

Not buying that they took their foot off the pedal. Plus, they never had to go over 45 yards in the first half.

Whatever. I guess that owning the worst defense in the Big Sky is acceptable now. I hope that Haslam (and Stitt I guess) don’t think that it is.

No we are not dead last. Our defense gives up exactly 18 more yards per game that EWU's. We have the 7th best scoring defense (best scoring offense), 10th in total defense (3rd in offense), 5th in rushing defense, and the only measure we ARE last in is yards per game in passing defense...but we're 6th in yards per completion, 8th in TD's allowed, 5th in completion percentage, and 2nd in INT's. We're also 2nd in sacks, 4th in RZ defense and 3rd in opponents 4th down percentage.

So if you insist on hanging your hat on. YPG, fire away.

Statistically not accurate:

#7 total defense and #7 scoring defense.

#11 out of 13 pass defense.

Not good by any stretch though.

The answer to that question Brewski...nickel do not play Conner and Banks together it’s not working. Time for Sandry to play in the box as outside linebacker opposite Buss and have Banks or Strahm at middle linebacker. Sandry is a hitter and coverage so far been iffy at times, he is big enough to bring up and better speed to contain edges and he could split out a bit wider for covering WR screens and flysweeps that have been working too well against this Defense. The big D tackles will have to protect the middle which they can. Play Alexander and epperly at safety and rotate the redshirt freshmen Crow and Nash they can play saftey or CB. Offenses are not running down the middle with success, the edges are weak due to players not being able to contain or lack of speed from weak side linebacker. Buss is owning his side of the field Griz need a faster outside linebacker opposite him.

Brewskis.......you are absolutely right. The defense AND special teams are the worst in the league. It’s difficult to remember that even with field position and turnovers the defense needs a stop in the red zone. Some make the comment that penalties helped weber. Well don’t commit the penalties then. Way way to many excuses for this football team right now.

Jesus you guys are like politicians. Just keep repeating the same bullshit and pretty soon you believe it.

I hate watching the defensive players not sprinting to the ball carrier.

Maybe the defense will prove the defensive naysayers wrong over the next three games. One can hope right? Also it will help to dilute the stats from the EWU and UW games with three more games that are hopefully, at least statistically, better than those two.

Az not trying to to agitate you. You have to admit on offense too many three and outs. And on defense the edges are being exploited. That’s not selling an agenda, that is factual.

Fine. But people need to stop equating an inadequate defense with "worst in the conference". It's simply not true, by any reasonable measure. Credibility goes to hell when one starts exaggerating "facts" to make a point.

Going to be interesting to see what gives on Saturday - NAU’s #1 Defense vs Montana’s #1 Offense.

Defensive stats are not the problem, defense in second half may be some of the best seen so far which is a positive. No players are giving up, they need some help getting them in position to succeed. Which can be done with the current roster and coaches.

I think eveyone is frustrated with the loss. I’m looking forward to how the seniors respond.

Wasn’t weebs #1 last week? Did fine. I think weather plays a factor, close game and lower scoring than everyone thinks.

I agree. Our defense has had problems but I still believe they can be really good to great. As seen against Weber. If defense stinks for the next three games (something like we score in the mid 30's or more and still lose) I think those asking for Semore to be relieved will have a very defensible position.
