Nate Harris suspended for opener.

I don't care what it was. He broke team rules, Mick suspended him. Good for him. There is a new sherrif in town.

I couldn't agree more. Its the rule violation that angers me, not the suspension.

It should be chrystal clear by now that Delaney is all about discipline.

My phrase is, "Shape up or ship out!" (referring to student-athletes, and students too)

Or like my 5th grade football coach at the Emerson Elementary in Butte used to say "f@*K around, F@*K around, pretty soon you won't be around!"

This,

+2 We were just talking about this last night. I think we've decided we'd rather lose with players of character than win without character and discipline. I'm sorry Mr. Harris won't be on the field, I hope it is nothing serious and I look forward to seeing him play in the next one.

This,

and This

Kind of like: It's my way or the highway. There are talented individuals waiting for an opportunity to take your place.

Sounds like the adults in charge of the program have decided to start acting like adults. If only some Griz fans could do the same.

Kids will NEVER get it. In the end, 18-23 year old kids still think they are invincible. What I absolutely love about this is that it has NOT been made public what the violation was, but the suspension was made public. This is the correct way for the school, coach, etc. to handle it.

The most important point of this is it looks like the university finally "gets it".

When I first heard and hopped on egriz my initial reaction was, "Oh man, don't rush to judge." I thought that the "team rules" blanket could be something as small as twitter, missing a team meeting, missing a workout, something small.

But on reflection I think it's good this being made public and while it's presumably small it puts scrutiny on him and shows the staff is taking discipline seriously. I bet whatever infraction Nate committed he'll probably never do that again - and it's probably going to wake up any other player who thought this staff would let things slide.

I look forward to seeing Nate back for the App St game.

You would have to think that but you cant teach stupid.....

Yeah but then it's filtering out the idiots that can't figure it out. Natural selection, it'll handle itself as long as the coaches and the team leaders hold all of the guys accountable.

Let's not be all self-righteous and make a bigger deal out of it than it is. Remember what they say about people who live in glass houses? The kid screwed up and he's paying the price. No more, no less.

Harris will sit, that we know.

So who will get all the FUN starting in his place?

Harris is a left cornerback, referred to as field. Sean Murray is the right cornerback, referred to as boundary. Will the #2 left cornerback, which is Dennard, automatically slide into Harris's spot, or will the #2 right cornerback, which is Goodwin, get Harris's spot? I have my guess, what's yours?

i'm sure there will be a lot of rotation out there..... yes there isn't a Trumaine type talent there but i feel pretty good about the overall secondary - nice talent and a lot of depth!

Agreed. Why does it always seem to be these California dudes who get into trouble? I know, JJ is from Oregon, and the other kid charged with rape is from Missoula, but you will have to admit, if you are honest, that our players from California always seem to be in the middle of trouble. Think about it, even though it is not politically-correct in Obama's World of playing the race card whenever in doubt. Now flame away, because I posted what should be obvious.

Not going to flame away. I just think you are wrong. You gave two examples in your justification that actually contradict your arguement. I will give you another. Maus. Missoula boy. What about Stuberg? Helena boy. Granted, those are examples. But so are yours. Someone with more time than me and someone who actually gives a crap could go back and look at public records of football players and find out what percentage of them are from what state. All I care about is that he did something wrong and is being held accountable. It is a path this team and university needs.

B.S. to your "correction"! i just counted the black players on the current Griz roster. There are 15 of them, out of 73 on the fall roster. That is 20%. Yet, that 20% has accounted for more than 50% of the off-field incidents. This means that the black UM players are 400% more likely to commit off-field indiscretions than the others. Go ahead and use the race card with me. I don't care. I only state facts, which many can not deal with.

Kids make mistakes. Adults provide consequences.

Not a great big deal. People make mistakes. Young people test rules. They are not necessarily stupid or idiots. There is no need for us to judge. They just do what kids do...check the boundaries. It happens all the time. The staff just needs to stay consistant with how they handle situations. That way the players get clean, clear messages about being a player on the field and in life.

Pats on the back to the staff. Nate will have other chances to do better.

Go Griz!
