Been some discussion on whether the cats made a strong push for him, too. Sounds like they did

how is there discussion? are people really of the belief that BOTH schools would try hard to get one of the best in the state?!

congrats on what appears to be a great get.

There was some discussion on the cats board whether or not the cats were after him or they offered any money since you guys already have a couple quarterbacks coming in. A few folks said they don't think that Cats offered him
I can guarantee you we didn't offer him as a QB, but at another position.

Hence the same offer as Griz. He isn't going to play QB for them either.

Billings Senior's Dick, the Gatorade Player of the Year, commits to Grizzlies — http://skylinesportsmt.com/dick-commits-to-montana/

Sample has an interview with Dick later tonight so this story will be updated.

I don't know about his speed, but he definitely has the quicks. Good slot receivers have that ability to quickly break into routes with precision and without breaking their speed. If Dick can refine his route running skills and catch the ball, he could be a really tough cover in a couple years. Bringing in some leadership doesn't hurt either.

Had the same offer at both schools. Big get for the Griz. He will find a place to play. Sulser is coming too.

Hate to disagree, but Sulser would be a real catch. I say he is a long shot.

Meaning he will go FBS in your opinion? Sounds like that is a real possibility but it sounds like if he stays FCS then it's the Griz.

Who is Sulser?

Gabe Sulser is a junior WR from Billings. He will be the #1 recruit in MT hands down. The kid is crazy fast, catches everything, and put up huge numbers this year as a junior. Best part....Griz family.

The kid throwing the football looks pretty good too. Hope the coaching staff will give him a shot at QB.
Wish Don Read could help out.

I am thrilled with his decision. Not to be dismissive of anyone else but hands down Nathan Dick was the top high school football player in Montana.

At 5' 10" I doubt he is competing for QB at UM yet the kid's football IQ is off the charts. He is a natural competitor, cat quick, and unafraid of contact. Don't know at what position he will play but I do know he will excel.

If he was the top high school football player in Montana, why was he offered a partial by both schools?

On a similar note, when was the last time a GPOY was offered anything less than a "full-ride" out of high school?

Before answering, keep in mind I think Nate Dick is going to be a successful college football player for the Griz at some position.

I believe he started as a freshman, was all state his sophomore year, all state this year as a junior, so a four year starter at the double a level and barring injury etc. will be a lock for all state next year.....I think a lock on Gatorade player of the year as well, nest year....great family too, mom and dad are principals here in billings.....would be a huge get next year imo.... could go the fbs way though.... his best friend on the senior bronc team is nate dick, so we have that going for us.....

Vim, you're trolling. You might also ask, "If he was the top high school player in MT why wasn't he offered at USC?" There is a big difference between the top high school player and the top college prospect. For that matter a great offensive lineman can be a better college prospect than any of the 'skill' positions.

I haven't seen all of the MT kids this year but I've watched Nathan play for years. I know what he is capable of, and I don't think anyone in MT matched his skill level. FWIW, I also saw four games with Troy Andersen playing QB. Andersen is the better "college prospect" because he is four inches taller, 30 lbs heavier, and a step faster. Yet Andersen sure as hell isn't a college QB prospect either. We can squabble over this but at the MT high school level I honestly don't think there was a better player this year than Nathan Dick. That is my observation.

I watched only a couple of their games, one being the state championship game. Thought he was easily the best player on the field. Can't measure heart.

Certainly wasn't trolling. I should've asked if you meant "college prospect" and you obviously didn't so I apologize.

So I fully agree with you. Best "high school player" in the state this fall was Nathan Dick. Not one team stopped him.
