UW-Milwaukee starts 5 seniors. Four of them are solid players, but they're having a hard time filling that fifth spot. They have two other seniors that could see some time, but they don't play any role other than providing a body and 5 fouls.
Joah Tucker is definitely the center of this offense. He's 6'5" 220lb, and will probably touch the ball almost every single posession. He gets a good number of their shots and gets to the line often. He plays more comfortable closer to the basket, but he doesn't mind stretching it out. He takes 1/3 of his shots from 3PT, but only makes 28% of them. Leading scorer most nights (14.8 ppg), and made a name for himself last year in UW-Mil's run to the Sweet 16. He's big enough to snag a good number of rebounds. Doesn't look to pass very often, and has twice as many turnovers than assists. Playing Tucker tough and forcing him to make mistakes will definitely affect the Panther's offensive production. Nothing special on the defensive end, and has fouled out of 2 games already this year.
Boo Davis is the shooting guard and he's leading the Panthers in scoring so far this year (15.7 ppg). Shoots mostly from outside with 70 of his 100 shots coming from outside the arc. He's a deadly shooter at 45% from 3PT which is incredible considering how much he shoots. This kid takes nearly 8 threes per game. Tucker's presence frees him up for some good looks, so the Griz will always have to know where this guy is on the court. He appears to be strictly a shooter who can't create, with only 5 assists on the year. He's turned it over 13 times so he can be forced into mistakes here and there. At 6'3" 190lb, he's somewhat of a bright spot on the defensive end as well. Will get a steal every now and then and rebounds well for a player his size.
Adrian Tigert would probably be considered the big man of this team. He's 6'7" 240lbs and he is a monster on the glass. Gets almost 8 rebounds/game with 3 of those coming at the offensive end. It's going to be important for Andrew/Jordan/Mike to find this guy and put a body on him. He's pretty solid in the paint and gets his fair share of FTs, averaging 11.6 ppg. Struggles somewhat from the line only shooting 62%. He's a good passer and decision maker with a 2.2 assist to turnover ratio. A good, solid player at both ends who sees the most playing time on this team.
Chris Hill is the fourth solid player that the Panthers can rely on most nights. He's the speedy little point guard at 5'10" 160lb. Handles the ball well and gets the job done. Doesn't get the number of assists you would expect a PG to have, but also doesn't turn it over very much for how often he handles the ball. He's a pretty poor shooter at 38%FG and 25%3PT, but does get 6-7 shots/game. Plays fairly tough D, and will get an occasional steal. Tough to rebound at his size, and can be taken advantage of if overmatched.
Jason McCoy is the final starter, and at 6'9" 190lb fills the front court with Tigert. Even though he starts, he doesn't see a whole lot of minutes (17.3 min/game). Tough for him to be a consistent factor with his small frame. Does some good things on the offensive end with his combination of height and quickness. Hits the offensive glass well, but doesn't have the strength to defensively rebound. Excellent shot blocker.
Avery Smith is walk-on who was originally scheduled to redshirt this year, but has stepped in to fill roles where needed. If Tucker needs a breather he'll usually step in, or if Hill has trouble matching up because of his height. He's 6'3" 175lb and takes a lot of shots for a guy who only plays 16 minutes/game, averaging 6.6 ppg. He probably shouldn't be taking so many shots either. He's shooting 30%FG and 31%3PT. He doesn't get to the FT line very often either. Has almost twice as many turnovers than assists. He does average almost 2 steals/game, so he's active on the defensive end. But overall, this guy probably isn't quite ready for D-1 basketball and its shown up to this point.
Kevin Massiah is a 6'5" 215lb JC transfer this year and was voted as the preseason Horizon newcomer of the year. He fills some minutes (15.7 min/game) in the front court, picks up a couple boards and a few buckets but that's about it. He gets 3.6 ppg and 2.4 rpg in a backup role where he gets the job done, not making a lot of mistakes or big plays.
Mark Pancratz is a 6'3" 185lb tough-nosed defender. Doesn't contribute much on the offensive end, not a very good shooter and has only taken two 3's the whole year. Provides some backup minutes (13.9 min/game) for the backcourt, but doesn't provide much more than that. Very physical on defense, and will get a couple of fouls.
Allan Hanson is the backup point guard that will see some decent playing time depending on what time of game Hill and Davis are having. A solid ball handler that won't create a whole lot, but doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Another guard with a low shooting percentage. Doesn't make big defensive plays, just fills the minutes when needed.
Michael Bendall and Derrick Ford are 6'7" 210lb and 6'10" 240lb respectively, and are sparingly used to fill some minutes and provide a few more fouls. Bendall hits the boards pretty hard and has been seeing more playing time against teams that play a taller lineup. The more Dlouhy plays, the more Bendall will play.
