 Rabid crowd needed in case ESPN scout rumor is true.

 Rabid does not mean drunk.

:thumb: Crowd needs to have some knowledge of the game or a least be conscience. :thumb:

the one good thing about the game is that Bruce Pearl has taken his magic show to Knoxville. After seeing what these guys did against Wisconsin, I am a little scared.

UW-M have 20! guys on their roster, 2 of which are ineligible this year. 16 guys have played for them this year. They have 7 seniors and 5 of them have started all 9 games.

They are only 1-3 on the road this year with the only win at South Dakota State. They lost at Tennessee Tech, a team that lost to Cincinnati by 45. They play at Wyoming Tonight (Tuesday) and then here Friday. I assume they aren't flying home between games, so it could be a road-weary and elevation-weary team.

They have 4 CC transfers, 3 D-1 transfers and 2 d-2? transfers.

They are not very tall. Their starting 5 and first sub are 5'10", 6'3", 6'3", 6'5" 6'7" and 6'9".

They have more turn-overs than assists on the year and have not shot a good FG%-pitifully low to start the year, but it has improved.

Over-all I am not as impressed with this team as their reputation suggests. I am not saying it will be an easy game. It obviously won't be easy, but I don't see why we can't win this game. We ARE ranked ahead of them in the Mid-major poll. Hopefully a large crowd will pump our guys up.

that's right, coach bruce pearl went to tennessee, where he's lost but one game while blowing out texas by about 20. they also lost their best player and top scorer, ed mc cants. what they will have going for them is, they're winners, they'll come in expecting to win. finally, we lost to them last year at their place by 12, a loss that doesn't look so bad now given their sweet 16 appearance.

Looks like milwaukee came from behind and beat wyoming pretty good tonight. i'm impressed and cant wait til friday, have to find someone to work for me first though.

If they beat Wyoming by 15 at their place, I'm pretty sure we will have our hands full.

Griz better locate Tigert right away, He kicked Wy butt by himself. I hope Griz get more fans than Wy had. Let's fill the place. This team is better than the Stanford team by far.

UW-Milwaukee does have a below average shooting percentage (41%) but its mostly due to 3 poor shooting nights that they had throughout the season (note that all 3 of these games were on the road). The last 3 games they are shooting right around 50%. They shoot the 3 about average (35%), and give up an average defensive percentage (45%).

They rebound pretty tough, averaging almost 40 boards/game with almost 15 of those coming from the offensive end. This has got to be an area of focus for the Grizzlies for Friday night. Montana has rebounded well so far this season, but this is the first team they'll see that crashes the boards pretty hard.

They appear to be a 1-on-1 type of offense. They average 12 assists/game and 14 turnovers/game. The teams they have played average under 10 assists/game so it makes you wonder if UW-Milwaukee pushes for this style of a game. They don't handle the ball extremely well (0.8 assist to turnover) but force their opponent into quite a few turnovers (17 TO/game). This could be an area that the Griz could exploit the Panthers as they aren't used to the type of passing and teamwork the Griz utilize.

I cant wait for friday for two reasons...

#1, I want to see if people actually come out to the game and realize that the griz actually have some talent this year.
#2, I want to see if the griz are for real or if this 10-1 start has been a fluke

Im hoping they come and pounce on UW-Mil and make a statement that they are for real

UW-Milwaukee starts 5 seniors. Four of them are solid players, but they're having a hard time filling that fifth spot. They have two other seniors that could see some time, but they don't play any role other than providing a body and 5 fouls.

Joah Tucker is definitely the center of this offense. He's 6'5" 220lb, and will probably touch the ball almost every single posession. He gets a good number of their shots and gets to the line often. He plays more comfortable closer to the basket, but he doesn't mind stretching it out. He takes 1/3 of his shots from 3PT, but only makes 28% of them. Leading scorer most nights (14.8 ppg), and made a name for himself last year in UW-Mil's run to the Sweet 16. He's big enough to snag a good number of rebounds. Doesn't look to pass very often, and has twice as many turnovers than assists. Playing Tucker tough and forcing him to make mistakes will definitely affect the Panther's offensive production. Nothing special on the defensive end, and has fouled out of 2 games already this year.

Boo Davis is the shooting guard and he's leading the Panthers in scoring so far this year (15.7 ppg). Shoots mostly from outside with 70 of his 100 shots coming from outside the arc. He's a deadly shooter at 45% from 3PT which is incredible considering how much he shoots. This kid takes nearly 8 threes per game. Tucker's presence frees him up for some good looks, so the Griz will always have to know where this guy is on the court. He appears to be strictly a shooter who can't create, with only 5 assists on the year. He's turned it over 13 times so he can be forced into mistakes here and there. At 6'3" 190lb, he's somewhat of a bright spot on the defensive end as well. Will get a steal every now and then and rebounds well for a player his size.

Adrian Tigert would probably be considered the big man of this team. He's 6'7" 240lbs and he is a monster on the glass. Gets almost 8 rebounds/game with 3 of those coming at the offensive end. It's going to be important for Andrew/Jordan/Mike to find this guy and put a body on him. He's pretty solid in the paint and gets his fair share of FTs, averaging 11.6 ppg. Struggles somewhat from the line only shooting 62%. He's a good passer and decision maker with a 2.2 assist to turnover ratio. A good, solid player at both ends who sees the most playing time on this team.

Chris Hill is the fourth solid player that the Panthers can rely on most nights. He's the speedy little point guard at 5'10" 160lb. Handles the ball well and gets the job done. Doesn't get the number of assists you would expect a PG to have, but also doesn't turn it over very much for how often he handles the ball. He's a pretty poor shooter at 38%FG and 25%3PT, but does get 6-7 shots/game. Plays fairly tough D, and will get an occasional steal. Tough to rebound at his size, and can be taken advantage of if overmatched.

Jason McCoy is the final starter, and at 6'9" 190lb fills the front court with Tigert. Even though he starts, he doesn't see a whole lot of minutes (17.3 min/game). Tough for him to be a consistent factor with his small frame. Does some good things on the offensive end with his combination of height and quickness. Hits the offensive glass well, but doesn't have the strength to defensively rebound. Excellent shot blocker.

Avery Smith is walk-on who was originally scheduled to redshirt this year, but has stepped in to fill roles where needed. If Tucker needs a breather he'll usually step in, or if Hill has trouble matching up because of his height. He's 6'3" 175lb and takes a lot of shots for a guy who only plays 16 minutes/game, averaging 6.6 ppg. He probably shouldn't be taking so many shots either. He's shooting 30%FG and 31%3PT. He doesn't get to the FT line very often either. Has almost twice as many turnovers than assists. He does average almost 2 steals/game, so he's active on the defensive end. But overall, this guy probably isn't quite ready for D-1 basketball and its shown up to this point.

Kevin Massiah is a 6'5" 215lb JC transfer this year and was voted as the preseason Horizon newcomer of the year. He fills some minutes (15.7 min/game) in the front court, picks up a couple boards and a few buckets but that's about it. He gets 3.6 ppg and 2.4 rpg in a backup role where he gets the job done, not making a lot of mistakes or big plays.

Mark Pancratz is a 6'3" 185lb tough-nosed defender. Doesn't contribute much on the offensive end, not a very good shooter and has only taken two 3's the whole year. Provides some backup minutes (13.9 min/game) for the backcourt, but doesn't provide much more than that. Very physical on defense, and will get a couple of fouls.

Allan Hanson is the backup point guard that will see some decent playing time depending on what time of game Hill and Davis are having. A solid ball handler that won't create a whole lot, but doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Another guard with a low shooting percentage. Doesn't make big defensive plays, just fills the minutes when needed.

Michael Bendall and Derrick Ford are 6'7" 210lb and 6'10" 240lb respectively, and are sparingly used to fill some minutes and provide a few more fouls. Bendall hits the boards pretty hard and has been seeing more playing time against teams that play a taller lineup. The more Dlouhy plays, the more Bendall will play.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee isn't very deep. They've got three players in Tucker, Davis and Tigert that provide 60% of their offense and 50% of their rebounding. They don't play a team style of ball but their talent and rebounding allows them to get away with it.

I think that if the Griz play Tucker tough, don't let Davis get open looks and take advantage when Smith is on the court they should win the ball game. Tigert is a solid player that is going to get a double-double almost every night. Andrew needs to continue playing like he has been and counteract it.

Rebounding and boxing out has to be a focus. Sticking to the game plan on offense is going to be huge. If the Griz continue to pass the ball well, they'll shoot a solid percentage. It's no coincidence that the 3 games that Montana has had less than 15 assists are the same games they shot below 50%. The 1-on-1 mindset of UW-Milwaukee cannot become contagious or else Montana will be taken out of their game.

Show 15 assists and 15 turnovers and you'll see a W for the Grizzlies.
