MSU vs SMU

It's really a must win for the Cats.

A must win game out of conference and in week 2?

You're an idiot if you really believe that.

Thanks, Wolfman. I suppose it less "must win" and more "must win to save face." I'm not saying they will be disqualified from playing the rest of the games if they lose, or anything.

ILTC, you are one of the few Cat posters on here I like to read. Keep repping your fanbase the right way.

As for SMU, I expect the Cats to win, I believe the Cats will win, and I'll be disappointed if they don't. And no, I'm not setting up to be able to talk trash if the Cats don't win. I am predicting they'll win because in my opinion, 11-on-11 they are better than SMU.

Totally agree. ILTC is generally one of the best posters on the board despite being a Cat fan... Just kidding. It will not surprise me if the Cats win based on what I saw last week from both teams. Regardless the Cats are the real deal and will contend for the Big Sky this year.

msu kittens do not have the speed to contend with SMU. Kirk can run but will be stopped cold>

Other factors to consider is msu always melts down against top teams, always! Hot is hot like in muggy. SMU is a low rung team but still has enough to beat the P out of scats.

msu must hope for a good showing or they will begin the usual slide downward.......

I respectfully disagree. I think with all the success of FCS teams against better FBS teams already (EWU being in the conference even), MSU should definitely win this one. If they don't, they should fall out of the top 10 for sure. They can also kiss the BSC title goodbye if they lose.

If the Cats are as good as their fans say they are, they should roll SMU.

that's good stuff.

at least now you set yourself up perfectly for a win-win. if the cats play really well (like they'll have to to have a shot in this game) and win you can come back and say it's no big deal...they were supposed to win. if we lose, (whether we play well or not) you can come back and say how bad we sucked and that we choked and that our season is over.

in reality this will be a very difficult game for the cats to win. I certainly think they have a shot and I know they're not intimidated with a school like smu. but the numbers game alone gives them an edge which is why they are a 2-score favorite.

but I've been a part of this board for a long time and know you're a pretty smart guy. so you already knew all that. you're getting better. still not quite in alpha's league yet but definitely getting better and that is to be commended. :thumb:

Masterful. You're a fun read CDA!

#1 NDSU beat a top 25 team in some poles
# 6 EWU beat a top 25 team
#2 MSU should beat a SMU team that hasn't seen the top 25 in decades. It's that simple!

Finally, somebody gets it. It's not even that they should win; they must win.

CDA another really shallow post by you. I listened to Craig Bohl NDSU coach today and he said they returned their whole team while Kansas St. lost all their key players. He said they were not at all a top 25 team in reality. Also, it was the same with Oregon State. They lost the guts of their team. Should no way have been ranked in the top 25. Ask anyFCS coach and they will tell you anytime you play up, because of the scholarship difference and speed of teams in the FBS it's a tough game. SMU did go to a bowl last year. They played Texas Tech last week and they are a really tough team. Texas Tech is a fast team, Smu didn't have their speed but they are still a lot faster than most FCS teams. It will be a tough game for the Cats. Get some objectivity CDA. If the Cat's lose by 10 they will lose nothing in the FCS rankings. A win would also probably keep them the same at number 3.

They will lose by alot more than 10!!

bigsky33, if and I mean IF Bohl said those things it was to keep his players grounded. No matter what you say OSU and KSU are far superior teams than SMU and TT. Please tell me what TT is ranked after their stellar performance against the power house team of SMU????

Was not comparing those schools to SMU. My point is that Kansas St. and Oregon St. were not as good as advertised. SMU was a bowl team last year but I agree didn't look good against Texas Tech. My point is anytime you play up it is tough as the speed is much faster and the depth difference is substantial with 22 more scholarships. Anytime an FCS school wins one of these games it is a credit to that school. When was the last time the Griz won a play-up game?

Now you're seeing why the Cats have to win. When a win doesn't raise your ranking, it's not a very big win, is it now?

Either it's a big win against a much more speed and a credit to the school for winning a "play up" game, or it's a should-win (must win in this case) that keeps them at their current rank. I'm confused. Which is it?

That really stinks  I just hope when they finally leave they have a safe trip.

If they don't go, do they still get the $300k?

??? And if not, do they go after the charter company? Mechanical issues, right?

CDA where do you ever get that this is a must win game? Only in your feeble mind!
