This is not intended as smack, but the Cats should win and if they don't they will be disappointed. SMU is a solid program and would be a solid win but based on what EWU and NDSU did last week anything short of a W will be a letdown. They will need to play better/sharper than they did last week but teams often play to the level of the competition.

I lived in Dallas in 2008 and drove to Huntsville to see the Griz get thumped by Sam Houston. The Griz players were puking on the field. It will be 97 degrees in Dallas with about 60% humidity at kickoff. I think the Cats have as good a chance as anyone to beat SMU. Conditioning will be a factor though. Thankfully the Griz avenged that loss at home in the semi-final game against SHSU. The heat is different in the south and could affect the out come later in the game. As much as it hurts, I will be rooting for the Cats to win. When we take it to the Cats on Nov. 23rd and beat them by 20, we'll show the rest of the country there is still only one power house in Montana.

In addition, about half dozen players got sick before they left for SHSU and were puking on the way down. I remember talking to Ochs about how half the team was eating power bars to try and keep some food down. It became this stupid myth about the heat and players getting sick.

I like how App is a world beater and Monmouth is some scrub who won't win another game. We don't know the answer to either of those until the season plays itself out. You beat an App State team who is breaking in a new head coach without their top playmaker, and we beat a 40 scholarship team transitioning to full FCS who lost their 4 year started at QB and their stud LB was suspended for the year. Honestly I'm not sure either win is that impressive. The Griz is more impressive to me for that fact it shows they could be back to being a top team. But it's too soon to tell. I'm not sure App is as good as everyone thought they'd be, and I don't think Monmouth is near as bad as everyone thinks they are either.

Are you kidding? That was the slowest game I've seen in a long time. Not tryin to be a di€k, but Monmouth pretty much sucked. I started watching the game, had a pizza on the way and I ended up changing the channel. It ain't the first time the cats have let me down. But that episode of Americas Got Talent was pretty good!!

How quickly Griz fans forget that coaching changes don't always work out immediately. 2009, NC runner up under Bobby Hauck. 2010, loss at home to the Cats to end the season under first year HC Plfugard.

ASU has a new HC whom I don't believe has any HC experience at all.

I get impressed when i receive something i did not expect.
The griz held ASU out of the endzone for the first time in over a decade (by an FCS school). That is impressive no matter how you slice it as it was totally unexpected.
The cants on the other hand, did about what i expected = not impressed.

I am not comparing them, I am simply saying ASU could end up with a losing record this year, and Monmouth might have a winning record. It's way too early to tell. I was more impressed with the Griz than the Cats in how they dominated a traditional FCS power, but that doesn't mean I'm impressed with App State.

It was slower than any game I've ever seen. 0 excitement, 0 enthusiasm, it was just a very boring game. Like I said, Americas Got Talent was more exciting than that. That game sucked. How did they let me down? It was the season opener. Haven't seen an FCS game since January and was preparing for a football game except it seems that what I seen was worse than flag football. What a joke.

The difference between the Griz game and cat game is the Griz actually played a game. App State was in the game until the 4th quarter. They had a turnover going in and threw an interception killing they're chances. Monmouth was never in the game. They were very over matched from the beginning and was nothing more than earning the check. This was nothing more than a scrimmage rather than a game. App State would provide a similar beat down to Monmouth. What I find interesting is the cat fans in they're we hate the Griz so bad agena will bad mouth a flagship program like App State. Kudos to App State and the class they brought to FCS football :thumb:

Myth or not, they were affected by the heat. They were cramping up all game long. Ochs left the game with cramps and Disney came in and threw the last TD pass for the Griz. My son and I were on the Griz side and Kat fans were heckling the Griz players about it. It was over 100 degrees with humidity on the field. No different than every playoff team that comes to Wash Griz from the South and says we won't be bothered by the crowd and the cold.
