MSU vs SMU

I'll take the cats in a close one, even though Vegas is usually right. I think that practicing/playing at 4,800 ft altitude the last 4 or 5 weeks will help offset the humidity factor at SMU. That and the 2-SMU starters that are out, will also help.

Humidity >>>>> Altitude.

Having moved to San Antonio from Phoenix, I now have a lawn. I mowed my lawn for the first time in 20 years this weekend. It almost killed me.

from what I saw after watching both is, if you took the names off the jerseys, msu looked to be the better team by a long ways comparing individual to individual,,,pains me to say, but msu wins this one.....go griz!

The x-factor is June Jones. He is a very good coach who makes good adjustments. I think you will see an improved SMU from the Texas Tech game (TT is a tough team by the way). SMU also has a highly touted QB, who transferred in from Texas and who threw for a lot of yardage in the TT game. It will be key for the Cats to get pressure on him. Will also be interesting to see how MSU's OL performs. They were dominant against Monmouth, but they will be facing a larger and more athletic front 7 in SMU. The Cats have the skill players to put a lot of points on the board if their OL can offer production. I'm not sold on MSU's run defense yet. SMU is a good match up because they don't utilize the running game very much. I'm anxious to see how MSU's front 7 holds up against a team that can incorporate a power running game. If they can keep teams from running over the top of them, this might be there year.

I wouldn't place a bet on this game, but I think MSU wins this game with a lot of points being scored by both teams.

I will agree msu is getting better but won't win this week end.
SMU..........35
msu..........21

The only way msu wins is if they can get they're defense off the field and I think SMU will win the TOP. With ash in the hurry up any 3 and outs is gonna hurt that already thin defense. I just don't think msu has the defense in this one. The one thing msu has going is the stands will be empty. Not much interest from what I hear.

Sweet Jesus. MSU was playing MONMOUTH, for God's sake! SMU was playing Texas Tech, not Incarnate Word...

Geez I'm not even as confident as you guys are! The Cats just haven't traditionally played well in FBS games, especially since Ash has been here. The only game we had a chance to win was Wazzu, which was McGhee's first collegiate start. Kramer teams could beat anybody but lose to anybody, Ash teams are much more consistent. I am hoping Cramsey brings a much more aggressive nature to the team, and if the 1st quarter was any indication, he will.

That being said, it will all depend if the Cats can get any pressure on SMU. If he has all day to sit back there and throw, it's gonne be a long day. I think the Cats will move the ball, but we will see if there are any kinks left to iron out in our new offense, because we got away with a few things against Monmouth that we won't against better defenses.

From what I took away from the Cat vs Monoouth game was the the Cat run defense did not look good! I think if SMU has a big line/good RB, they will wear out the Cats! On-the-other-hand, D McGee might score to quickly, and hurt the D's rest time.

This game will come down to turnovers. Whoever wins the to margin will win the game. if McGhee reverts to himself and has 1 maybe 2 fumbles and an interception (often a pic six) SMU wins going away. If not the game will be close going into the 4th quarter and then size, depth and talent allows SMU to pull out a narrow win.

That's nice. You don't smoke. You're 18-25, and in near perfect physical condition. Oh and did I mention will help offset...oh yes I see that I did. Besides if you're from Phoenix don't you just rake some colored rocks once or twice a year?

I gotta agree, the cats have a very good chance of beating SMU, despite Vegas.
For myself, my first Griz T-shirt said it all: I have two favorite teams, the Grizzlies and whoever plays the bobcats.
Go Mustangs!

Didn't I say I just moved to San Antonio and now have a lawn?...oh yes, I see that I did.

And please explain to me, from a physiological standpoint, how working out at a relatively benign altitude of 4500 feet somehow "offsets" 50% humidity and temps in the high 90's?

Was that when the Cats 2nd string or 3rd string was in?

My first introduction to humidity was in San Antonio in April when it was 95/95 and I have never felt anything that opppressive. We were just in the area last weekend and it has been hot for this time of year. The humidity in the DFW area runs in the 60s-70s. At this time of year they schedule games in the evenings here - kickoff should be 6:00PM - 7:00PM or else they are a bunch of sadists. Just based on last week's performance I think the FCS could win another one. I'm thinking pretty strong on throwing in if the spread is 10 points.

From everything I've heard about the Cat team this year, they should win by 15+ points

  That pretty much sums them up. :thumb:

That's funny. After talking to Griz fans lately, I was under the assumption they would challenge Alabama for the BCS championship and perhaps any one of 32 NFL teams for a super bowl victory.
