The reality is the cats have open practice so their fans can watch. In their opinions anyone that run, jump, tackle, block, and catch is totally awesome. Griz fans go on limited scrimmages and egriz. The fact of the matter is we have the players to go a long ways and I don't give a flyin @@@@ what the cats have. Their fans will always think the cats can run higher and jump faster than anyone in the country.

The actual reality is that when Cat fans say anything positive about their own players, Griz fans exaggerate to make a point and then run away with the joke. All of the sudden Cat fans think every person on the bench is an All-American. Not a single Cat fan has said anything remotely close to that.

True to some extent, but some of the Cat exaggeration and overconfidence last year about how the tide and momentum had shifted to the Cats, and the Cats were going to do this and that to the Griz, and the Cats were so strong at all these positions, was more than a bit much. That's why I jumped on it last year at the beginning of the season, when I observed that the Cats were decent but really not great. And then when your qb got hurt, I knew/guessed that the Cat offense would struggle. And then we had to listen to how great Bleskin was, and it seemed implausible to me that a back-up could step in and be great immediately, and he clearly wasn't. So, it obviously goes both ways.
What are your predictions for each team this year and how with Cat/grizz go down?

Griz finish ahead of the scats in the standings and run them out of town on a rail in November. Just like last year. Back to normal.

That's fine. I'm hoping to get PR on record but others are more than welcome to participate.

Cats: (6-6)

AK State: L
BHS: W
Cent. AK: L
EWU: L
UND: W
SAC: L
Davis: W
Weber: W
Poly: L
PSU: W
ISU: W
UM: L

Griz: (10-1-1)

WY: L
CWU: W
SD: W
NDSU: W
UNC: W
UND: W
Davis: W
Poly: W
SAC: W
EWU: tie
SUU: W
MSU: W

Cats will likely be 8-3, griz will be 7-4 heading into the brawl. Winner makes playoffs, loser might not.

Griz and cats are both 8-3 heading into the Brawl. The Griz hold serve on their home court and head to the playoffs at 9-3. Cats are a bubble playoff team at 8-4.

"tie" with EWU?? NFL rules?

To me it comes down to the OL and health for both teams. A strong O-line and surrounding cast will help a new QB for MSU. Good OL play will help the run game taking pressure off the new QB. Couple injuries for MSU there and it changes dramatically. Couple people come back for UM and add another W or two. Neither team is too far from being 10-2 or 6-6. The Griz just seem to have so much going on that is eerily similar to what the Cats went through last year and that is worrisome. Coming into the season top 5 nationally, and then getting demolished by the injury bug. I think it'll come down to Cat/Griz to see who has the better record. I only pick MSU right now because of the health factor as it stands today - but it is nowhere near a lock. The "new" QB will not be new anymore. Both teams should be good and it could be another very exciting season of football in Montana.

No. We play in the NCAA Division I FCS. Sheesh, how long have you been a fan?
Refs will call it after 14 OTs and it will be an instant classic.

I have not seen any of the QB's compete other than Bleskin last year in relief of our injured McGhee. I thought he did a very good job of managing the team last year in a tough situation. However, I hate to say it but his work last year may have tipped it toward Prukop this year. No one will say it because you can't but Jake did a very good job of running the team, but he did not leave a mark big enough to say, "wow, can't wait until he gets the job".

Now, as we know, Prukop has the job but it only takes one bad fall and Jake or McQ is in, so I think he will stay and punt for the team, and likely will throw the willing TD pass on a called play against the griz in the Zoo to cap his career!

Just sayin...

Good grief  Jake should transfer so he can at least play again. Cramsey is running some kind of read option-Jake out! I find it interesting how scat fans have anointed Prukop the next offensive MVP and he has never taken a snap from center in a live game.

Jake will play again...this year as a Bobcat, and will throw the winning TD pass against the griz this year. :)
He will be spitting out his ear hole the whole game. The Griz pound MSU unmercifully, just like last year.

Don't have predictions yet. Want to see both teams play. Have consistently said that I want to see Griz play, before deciding how good the Griz will be. Think Cats will have good defense, but not sure of offense. Offense could be mediocre. Griz have some strengths and very good potential. Would like to see how the o-line performs, including who is healthy and who steps up; whether Henderson plays; and make sure that the linebackers, secondary and tights (and maybe even receivers if Henderson is out) can perform at fairly high levels. I think the Griz will beat the Cats, but without seeing either of the teams in action, especially the Cats, what I think now is probably not very meaningful. What do you honestly think?

Well geez, what fun is that? It seems like you are fairly plugged into the program, and you have a tendency to downplay a lot of the concerns about this year's team in terms of O Line, TE, COACHING, schedule, etc. The Cats have some question marks as well, but I think we're going to be pretty damn good in all three phases of the game, better than last year. You should predict your WL versus ours heading into Cat\griz, as others have done, with the right to adjust it if your O Line gets absolutely destroyed by Wyoming.

Not correct. I have not downplayed anything. I have some concerns like almost every other Griz fan, especially with the o-line. I've provided some more optimistic views on o-line and TE, to offset some the unduly negative views. That doesn't mean that I think the o-line will be great. I have consistently said that I believe the UM coaching staff is good overall, including that Delaney is not nearly as bad as some think. I have consistently said that my biggest concern is the tough schedule. I already said I thought the Griz would beat the Cats, but that I don't have a great basis for that prediction yet. Even if the Griz were bad, I would still believe they would beat the Cats.

Fair enough. So if you think the Griz, even if bad, will beat the Cats... then you must think the Cats are going to be really bad. I'm cool with that, you all will find out soon enough that the 2014 Cats are going to be a dangerous team.

Any team that plays that close to a sewage treatment pond is dangerous.

This goes to PR. I could already script the total nonsense responses most of you will spew.

I'm optimistic and predicting a Cat victory, but not by talking down the grizz. I could, but I don't believe I need to. On defense, I think we will have breakout years from Sheridan at NG, Marino at Coe at DE, and Keeton at CB. In fact Flowers and Keeton should be the best CB combo in the league, and Singleton, Na'a, and Moore should be the best LB core in the league. Barnett at S is a 6th year senior and if he can stay healthy, should be exceptional. That's 9 positions I really like, and the other two guys I didn't mention (Dees and Marshal) are 5th year seniors that both started (at least) all of last season. Overall this should be the best defense I believe we've had in a really long time.

On offense, I'm most excited about our O Coordinator Cramsey and I do believe Ash has handed him the keys to the car (unlike last year). That needs to be true for our offense to excel. I really like our first 5 guys on the OL, and their ability to stay healthy and stay healthy deep into the season will be key, otherwise we have a whole bunch of freshman and/or walkons. Our only other scholarship backup O lineman broke his effing toe walking down stairs in his house, although he should be back to full strength by the conference season. We are in good shape at TE. We will need to wait and see at QB and R as those can only be considered question marks at this point.

On ST, we may be in trouble at PK and P, but our cover teams and return teams should be really good. Johnson should repeat as All American at returner. Mixed bag.

Overall, I believe this Bobcat team is very good, and quite possibly great. I'm looking forward to another victory in Missoula this year.

I would be happy to give a c-note to a very prominent cat fan holding it in escrow for the Griz/cat bet. You in or not.
