MSU Coaching Search

Ursus1 said:
The fact that they went so far deep into their offers to just find a guy that would keep assistants should scare the hell out of fans. Any head coach not being able to choose his staff based on what he thinks of them, likely loyalty to him, knowledge in what he wants to run, a good match personality wise is just asking for trouble. Crazy way to run a search.

That was false. He is free to make changes in assistants. New OC was announced today.

Who? I guess if he coached one game as a D1 OC he has more experience than the guy Choach was going to roll with, right?
Can’t imagine why the Vegan would want to replace that dude

Are you sure Udy is not still employed (kept) just not as OC?

On one hand, this guy likes to abuse teams in the trenches and run the ball down teams throats. The current team is already built for exactly that. Cats everywhere will continue to rejoice when UNLV Bobby rolls out another year of the 3 3 5. Expect the next several Brawls to be pretty much identical to the last 6.5 quarters of Brawl football.

On the other hand, a bad idea would be to bring in a D2 coach, with his own branded t-shirts, to enact a wholesale conversion to a fluffy ass pussy offense comprised primary of the jet sweep forward pass.

It wasn’t about Choates guy. It was about Vegin hiring a guy who worked for him before. Matt Miller was 27 yo and with only a a few years of coaching and never an OC before when Choate put him in that position. He did great. Made the vaunted Griz defense look really bad!

It’s hard to take anything you say seriously. I’m still waiting on the 100% fact (according to you) that Choate is making 1.3M at Texas. I see you still haven’t found a thing to support that made up statement or your make believe land. I’m waiting .......

Not a flattering picture. Last time I saw that expression there was a deer right in front of my car.

That picture made me think of Axe body spray and menthols. He looks like that “cool” uncle we all had as kids. Never married or steadily employed, but he had a couple of Les Pauls, a vintage Playboy collection, and an IROC-Z.

ABQCat also keeps guaranteeing that the Cats aren't going to lose to the Griz anytime soon but refuses to respond to PR's offer of a wager on the next game. He's all talk and no action.

I guess I’m still confused. The cats field their best team and best playoff performance in 35 years and coaches bolt for other jobs?! If the next stop for the cats is a natty why wouldn’t they want to accomplish that? Looks good on a resume. They believe they instantly get better with every new hire that’s announced!! The optimism is amusing but putting the band back together when everyone is playing a new instrument will probably take some time.

I can't wait to watch the meltdown when Vigen loses some games. He's never been a head coach and he just hired an OC who has never called a game before so there's bound to be a huge learning curve. It will be interesting to see who he hires for DC. If it's someone else with no experience that could make things even more difficult right out of the gate.

Sure Cats fans are optimistic, why wouldn't we be... I am optimistic that My wife's cousin will win Pebble Beach again this year, does that make me a terrible person? (FYI he is in the featured group with Spieth and Fowler tomorrow). Was this just a super long post to brag about my wife's cousin? Yes, yes it was.

will go on record and predict that the cats will do very well with the new coaching staff. I think the DC at Texas made like 800,000 last year and Choate made what 350 in Bozo? Seems he had about 450,000 reasons to leave. and this would not be a bad reason either
