MSU Coaching Search

CatzWillRise said:
By my calculations, Choate would have cleared $346k this upcoming year just by showing up and having his guys do well in the classroom. This doesn't even take into account any on the field type bonuses, of which there are plenty that could be obtained.

Base - 206k
Coaches Show - 80k
Fundraising - 30k
FBS Game (Wyo) - 15k (just for playing the game)
GPA Incentive - 10k
APR >=985 - 5k

You and I have very different definitions of “cleared”. I get that coaching MSU is a pretty low stress gig because the expectations are relatively low, but I honestly can’t believe either school gets anyone talented to sign up with those compensation figures. I guess, case in point: MSU’s “national search” netting them the 1:45am gal, right?

He was making more than that 5 years ago when he left UW. I remember him saying that he liked the FCS level of football better and wanted to make a career there. Who knows what motivates that guy but I don't think it's necessarily money.

I believe his exact words were he wanted to get out before it was too late. Didn’t want to overstay his welcome.

He showed what he thought about FCS football, the BSC and the BOR with his many whines. I suspect he came because he wanted to check off that HC box in his resume. But found HC FCS (18-14 conf.) did not provide a ticket to a good HC FBS gig. BH was 32-1 (conf.) in his last 4 years at UM and had to settle for an FBS job where it was impossible to win.

I think the bsc’s lack of leadership this fall was a huge issue for Choate. Additionally he was frustrated with the BOR due to MSU being tied UM. He’s never seen anything where two flagships athletic departments are tied so closely together.

Choate should have been happy with Cat football being tied to Griz football, or he and Cat football would have been behind Griz football by a few notches.

What specifically about the BOR and UM and MSU being tied together would've frustrated him so bad? FCOA?

MSU would’ve been left behind a loooong time ago.

I think in general, but yeah FCOA is a big one for sure. Also, coaches salaries/contracts....Choate thinks that should be up to the individual school. He’s definitely a big free-market thought guy.

That said, I am well aware this is an ongoing thing and that MSU was on the short end of the pendulum not too many years ago.

I actually don't disagree with him on that one. I think the individual schools should have free will when it comes to contracts. That to me is ridiculous that both coaches have to be paid approximately the same amount.

How about the presidents? And comparable professors?

No, I don’t think it was fair that Engstom, Clayton Christian and Cruzado were all paid the same.

Do the presidents actually make the same amount of money? Cause I seem to remember that Cruzado was gonna leave msu last year and they had to give her like a $100,000 raise or something like that to keep her from what I remember.

Underpaid.

It was that way before he came. He was not a stranger to MT college football. Did he think he could change all of that to the way he would want it?

Really? Choach has never seen anything like it? You don’t say?

Look how this troll drops unsubstantiated and unsupportable nuggets of cat turds everywhere he goes.

Got a link to support your Bullshit? Maybe a live uplink to Choacheses’ stream of consciousness?

Ladies and gentlemen of egriz, behold the biggest troll on the interwebs. He’s been doing this for 20 god damn years. The butt hurt from the streak lingers longer than a homeless man’s once whitey-tightey’s.

Think about that for a sec. After getting shit-stomped by The Griz for the umpteenth time, this guy sulks back to his dorm room to register into his rival’s board and has continued to do so everyday for 20+ years!! Such a pathetically sad existence.

I imagine Chinese torture to be less intrusive:

Emperor Xi: Garriz, for your insolence, I sentence you to a lifetime of posting on BM.

Garizz: Can’t you just send me to one of your lovely prisons?

listening to Vigen right now and I think he might be a good hire. should make the big sky stronger. hell of a lot more likable than Choate.

On January 21st, you posted about who should be the next #37 at UM. Then you made 42 straight posts in threads about coaches at MSU. Then you took a break to make one post about Sirmon getting a PWO to UW, then made 56 straight posts about the MSU coaching situation, culminating the in the absolute beaut of a post that I am quoting. 98 of your last 100 posts have been in threads about the Cats.

Kind of a pathetically sad existence, no?
