Been there, done that. The Griz simply have to cast the recruiting net further than Puget Sound. I've really come to question whether or not there is enough Grade A talent in the Pacific Northwest for the Four WA and OR Pac 10 schools and Gonzaga - and UM or any other BSC team. UM needs to mine some new talent rich metro areas with some high school basketball tradition and more solid prospects. Getting the second and third levels of talent out of the NW just doesn't cut it anymore.

From what I can tell, the Griz are also recruiting Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado and not to mention California, for high school talent in addition to Washington and Oregon. I do not think that Tinkle is limiting himself to Washington, but when have an a pipeline to an area that has a lot of D-1 quality players, you are going to milk it for all it is worth. Look at Mathias Ward. If he would not have signed with Montana this fall, he would receiving a LOT of Pac-10 attention right now.

Sugar Bear 16: How many players has Boone cut since coming to PSU........ 6 or more.

You rant a lot about you opinions but my info comes from Washington AAU coaches. Boone is a very good coach, and has done a great job at PSU, so I will not bash him to support my opinion of Tinkles strengths. Tinkle is a force in recruiting players from Washington, he gets more than his share of athletes their. Talk to actual coaches (high school, AAU or College). Even as a rabid Montana State basketball fan /booster I have to give Tinkle props for this. I am done with this argument.

I do talk to actual coaches there MSLAcat because, I spent 9 years coaching college and 3 of those 9 were in WA. AAU coaches can be full of poop poo sometimes. Like Craig Baumgartner for example. Like I said before I'm not contesting your info I just know what I hear and my info comes from solid places.

If you want to have success coaching in college you need to get players who will buy into your system or philosphy. So by Bone cutting 6 or more players he's doing that exact thing which showed to work. How many players have under Tinkles tenure Mslacat. 3 this year and I think 2 last year. Hmm

Oh, it's SGF.

PSU has crappy attendance becuase their gym only seats like 2500 to 3000 but, they pack in night in and night out. History easily favors Montana and Weber st? Hmm coming from a person who can't get facts straight on PSU's recent history. Nice try but you've shown me that you are :lame:

Pack them in? Not hardly. They avarage 1347 per home game. Even in that sub-high school gym it doesn't qualify as "packing them in".

avarage eh, is there a new webster's dictionary out that spells average avarage? The last attedance quote from the PSU SID was at 2585 and that's where I got my info from.

Gosh its always nice to have "yet another" board spelling monitor...
My elementary typo obviously invalidates my point.

:puke:

I live in Portland and have attended many of those games. With a few exceptions: not packed.

Try this site:

I doubt you got any info or anything else from the PSU SID. The attendance Grisly noted of 1347 per game is accurate, and from the PSU website, where the PSU SID posted them. Look it up.

That's where I went to but, it was in February during conference play and when they were making their run so maybe there were 2 stats.

maybe the SID was trying to embellish the numbers by averaging in their attendance on the road, whihc was typically triple what they draw at home.

I interrupt this bitchfest for an on topic post......

6-4 Guard Anthony Johnson from Yakima JC is visiting Seattle U. Monday, and it appears that is between UM and Seattle. I do not think he has visited UM yet. The community that the college is in (ie.. Seattle, Missoula) will play heavily into his choice.

....... now back to Suger Bear 16's bitchfest.

I hear he is very hi on Tinkles board!

Looks like he can really score..... Wouldn't that be nice to have a gaurd who can create his own shots off the bounce.... Having a perimiter player who can fill it up would be a blessing for Hasquet as well as freeing up Stauds to be more of the natural catch and shoot player that he is....... The more I find out about Anthony Johnson the more I like......adding him and an athletic post who can bang would mean great things for the Griz...........

MslaCat.... I'm not sure if you have seen Johnson play.... if you have who would you compare him to? Carlos Taylor?(not saying he would be that good)

Mathew (I forget his first name) who played for the Griz a while back, but much better scorer. From what I understand he is a very versatile player who contributes in a lot of ways, but is also a dynamic scorer.

Do you mean Virgil Mathews?

That would be Virgil Matthews..... and that is extremely high praise. Virg really was the player that did it all for us..... Consider me on the Anthony Johnson bandwagon now

Yea, Vigil was his namo.

It sucks getting old

By, the way, last week March 16-22, 2008, was the first contact period of the spring recruiting period (this is when Coaches can do home visits with recruits) and I hear Tinkle spent a good amount of time in Washinton last week in Washington. We are now in the Evaluation Period until April 1st, The Eval. Period meaning they can eveluate a recruit but no in person contact with the recruit.
