UM is on probation. UM will be watched closely by the NCAA for a couple years. If UM violates said probation, or course there would be more sanctions. Thats all of it in a nutshell. Now lets just put this mess behind us and get ready for what I predict will be a very special season!!! :D

Well said, Hammer. I'm ready for some football. See you in the NEZ buddy!

Don't forget the pre game tailgate!!!! :thumb:

I think there are some people out there who do not believe the investigation of the football program is over. I think there are some out there whose agenda is to see to it that UM athletics, specifically UM football, is on permanent probation. Those people with the agenda will be attempting, on a permanent basis, to entice the NCAA to investigate again/further. The heat is on UM now in the form of NCAA probation and other sanctions and the 'agenda crowd' wants to see that continue indefinitely.

I think there are some out there who are going to scrutinize everything that goes on regarding UM athletics and pounce on anything and everything they think is or should be a 'violation'. No, I don't mean the MSU crowd, I mean the same crowd that was unhappy with the trial verdict and the same crowd that was unhappy with decision regarding the Board of Regents appointment.

I think it is their objective to try to keep UM on probation now that UM is on probation. They may or may not succeed but they will keep a watchful eye on things and keep a list. When that list gets to a certain point, they will make a call or send an email to the NCAA and say, "Hey, guess what NCAA, we have some information for you!"

Does that mean that information is worthy of another investigation? Maybe, maybe not - who knows? Many people apparently think the recent investigation was basically an attempt to find something when there was nothing substantive there, yet it ended in 3 years probation and other meaningful sanctions.

So, if that's the standard for the NCAA beginning an investigation (nothing substantive there to begin with) and it's really the case that there was nothing there at the conclusion of the investigation yet there were sanctions issued, then it would seem that it wouldn't take much for the NCAA to show back up in Missoula now that UM is on probation. In other words, I would think the standard for opening another investigation now that UM is already on probation would be lower than the standard was for starting the recently concluded investigation when UM was not on probation.

I think the 'agenda crowd' knows that and intends to take advantage of it. It's how they do things. Keep in mind how the last NCAA investigation started, according to the NCAA report, page 2 - "On November 28 and December 12, 2011, the NCAA enforcement staff first learned of possible NCAA violations involving the University of Montana from anonymous sources." Just sayin' ...

I hear your concern, but if UM does everything by the book I don't really feel the "chicks that haven't been laid in 8 yrs" crowd can do anything to hurt UM.

I also read somewhere that walmart isn't selling GRIZ gear anymore...

If so, there will be a lot of naked bandwagon Griz fans running around this year.

The Griz bandwagon is SURE one old rickety bastard of a couple decades old, going back to 1993.

Whereas the pussy bandwagon is only a mere 3 years old, going back to recent 2010. Way to go TRADITIONAL NOBODIES!!!

Two cents from the outside.
If the coach and AD hadn't been fired, could there have been a post season ban? Was that not a self imposed penalty? The NCAA mearly slapped the Griz on the wrist. They could have done much more damage looking into such things as underage drinking at the foresters ball, etc. The one thing that stands out is that from all the Drama on this message board the virus still lives.
Please help us understand what purview you think the NCAA has over underage drinking at the Forester's Ball.

Jeez, how dumb is that guy. As if the ncaa would ever weigh in on underage drinking. Pretty funny. I hope he's a Cat fan.

I'm not sure you can trust Dr. Kenneth Noisewater. James Westfall on the other hand, he's a reputable source....
Reputable...that would be someone dressed up in a adolescent toy suit right??? :grenade: :egriz:

Remember this is from bobcatnation and more than likely taken out of context.

Is it possible the original post was referring to the following quote in the Missoulian?

“They absolutely had to come away with something. It’s no different than the IRS when they go in and they are red-flagged on something. They’ve got to come away with something.”

O’Day takes issue with vacating wins, claiming “there’s so much more to the story.”

“Until all of that comes out, which I believe it will, it’s kind of a disappointment,” he said. “It took a lot of hard work and effort by a lot of people on that team. To vacate all that is not fair to those kids.”
