Montana's Anderson looking good.

https://www.nfl.com/news/broncos-hype-out-of-control-after-russell-wilson-trade-plus-five-nfl-draft-prosp

he must have picked the right events to compete in as he has gotten lots of press.

That info ( top 50) may have dented the naysayer's predictions on this board. The Betch looks forward to rooting for this Montana athlete to succeed. Denver Broncos sounds just about right.

Does anyone know if he’s a Montana kid? I only root based on origin, and I don’t think his has been mentioned yet so I don’t know what to do.

I have some time today so I'll dig into it a bit. :thumb:

Thanks. Let me know. The particular longitude/latitude of where one’s parents chose to live weighs very heavily on my attitude toward that person. It’s like I judge someone based on that, but in advance. I don’t think there’s a word for it.

It’s just common sense.

It's called parentemgeo. It's really pretty common.

As an example, many Montanans dislike kids with parents from California - pellentesque odimus occidens litus.

I never really understood this phenomenon, but didn't want you to think you were alone.

Thanks! I appreciate you. I still don't know where this kid's parents chose to raise him, so I still don't know if I should root for or against him.

Still digging. In the meantime you might as well just root FOR him. ;)

I can’t do that. My default is to root against every kid until I get confirmation that he is a Montana Kid. At that point, I know he’s TOUGH, but I then have to look into the strength of the family to make a final decision. It’s a whole process:

1. Verify Montana kid-ness
2. Verify family strength
3. Verify nose hardness
4. Verify that his brand of FB is in line with the band that sang “All-Star” in the movie Shrek
5. Perform analysis
6. Conclusion

Wise man indeed... If there is even a hint of Californication in the wood pile he's out.

Can’t say for sure, but I highly doubt it regarding this kid. Something tells me he’s not into dodging homeless people trying to stab him with heroin syringes, crapping in his driveway, and breaking into his house every single day. You know, like every Californian deals with?

That said, if indeed it is proven that he is a Montana kid, then by law you MUST root for him. I believe it's in the CFR's somewhere. Basically says thou shalt root for and never against a Montana kid and/or Montana team regardless of your/their current location, team fandom, or familial makeup. Not physically and emotionally rooting for a Montana kid/team is stictly prohibited and punishable by egriz jail time or at the very least, the angst of many an egriz poster who believe you should burn in hell for such indiscretions. Be careful. Make good decisions.

Thank you for this. I didn’t know about the most recent amendments, but ignorance of the law is no defense. I shall act accordingly.

Kiper also picked Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning.

...kiper was right picking leaf...
...had he gone anywhere but san diego...
...worst management then..now..forseeable future...
...in my humble opinion..and for the sake of arguement...

... ...

Nobody could have foretold how poorly Ryan Leaf would deal with fame and money (and drug-use). There are several 1st-round "busts" every year, usually because of personally behavior, not a lack of raw ability. Anderson seems like a solid kid, who I do believe will be a special teams stud and back-up LB NFLer for many years, but no WAY he gets drafted in the top 100. Anyone who truly believes that is wearing Bobcat-coloured glasses. He isn't even a "real" LB. Who would draft an "athlete/project" who has had a knee surgery from a 1-AA school before the 5th round? The NFL doesn't appreciate/like having to "develop" guys, when there are plenty of similar athletes that proved they can play with the big boys in the SEC, for example.

Geezus dude, the kid is a 6'4" 242lb athlete that ran a 4.41 40.. and a high character kid to boot. There are not a lot of similar athletes in the SEC or anywhere else. The kid will be drafted no later than the third round and most likely higher. Depending on the team he just may be a starter soon.

you fell for the russian propaganda. if a kid from montana is not from a strong family, or at least a good family, is not a hard-nosed bring your lunch pail to work kind of guy, you don't have to root for him (or her). look at it this way - montana families are by necessity strong, or at least good. if a family lives in montana yet is not strong, or at least good, then something's going to be wrong with their children, and you don't have to root for them. remember, "montana strong!"

addendum, i just read the post above and realized i forgot "high character guy" as part of the requirement. again, though, it goes back to being from a strong family, which by necessity will create high character guys.

If you're not from Butte or within a close proximity to Butte can you really even call yourself a Montanan?

There was a time not long ago that motor height mattered more than character height. Luckily, piecing everything in this thread together, this kid appears to be the biggest, fastest, highest motor and character guy in the history of the game. We just need to determine where he was raised to come to a conclusion on (1) Toughness, and (2) Rooting Obligation.
