Montana NEEDS

Alpha is far more dry, sober and drug free today. He sounds increasingly more clear today. Yesterday he was like "far out" !

One other important note, Alpha is on the UM's head coaching search committee.

From that information we can applaud Alpha for assisting Haslam in the selection process.

We need the Washington family and could use Baldwin. Dude is a winner and has our number. He will be a millionaire soon as a result of rolling us on a frequent basis.

We appreciate and need the Washington family. Kent should ask for their input as Dennis has a wonderful success record hiring key people. However, Haslam must make it clear to everyone that the final decision is his alone.

Awesome Thread!

Montana needs to take steps in becoming an R1 University so we can be taken seriously as an academic institution.
Montana needs to get rid of its joke of a retention/graduation rates.
Montana needs to develop the Davidson Honors College to attract top tier students.
Montana needs to work on its acceptance policy, and have interventions in place to make sure students with learning deficiencies are successful.
Montana needs to renovate the Mansfield Library (if it has not already) for students who are there for more than Grizzly football.
Montana needs to get back to producing Rhodes Scholars which it has not done since around 1995.
Montana needs to figure out how to pay Professors for their production in scholarship if it hopes to attract and retain good Professors.
Montana needs to stop hiking up tuition every time head office fouls up the budget.

Once we take care of all of those important issues we can start looking at the superficial stuff Alpha posted.

Hey Royce don't come posting shit around these parts please.

Montana needs to break through the tenure system to clear out the many faculty members who have retired on the job, opening positions for new blood ready to contribute to today's needs.

Winner!!!!! :thumb:  :thumb:

Another idea is to have the teachers teach more than 1 or 2 classes per semester. And the old argument that the rest of the time is spent researching or writing is complete bullshit. A few, maybe. Most just rehash the same subject with the same old outline. Keep the good ones. Pay them better. Require them to do a little more work. Cut the non-producers. Kind of like the actual real world.

Tenured track professors typically do a 2-3 or 3-2 in terms of teaching courses. It would be odd if Montana were different in this format.

I have no problem with finding ways to get rid of bad professors. They were certainly the minority when I attended the University, but there were those who should have sought employment elsewhere. However, you cannot completely top-down blame faculty as the old cliche of leading a horse to water accurately paints. This doesn't fix our admissions, retentions and graduation problems.

This is great news about Derek Crittendon! Well done young Grizzly!

Ha! I would hope these are his primary concerns, however, I am not Dr. Engstrom. I have not made up my mind on him just yet, but I'm not the knee jerk majority.

Most will agree that the construction of Wa-Griz stadium marked the beginning of a very successful run for our football program. We all have favorite (and not so favorite) coaches and staffs come and go. The constant has been our superior stadium. The new locker/training rooms (with a track for crying out loud) will be a game changer. This will be the most important hire since Don Read....who was attracted by the stadium. Larry Donovan was the guy who talked Dennis Washington into his initial donation. Mr. Washington didn't say keep Donovan or I'm not going to play. His sons will also let the AD make the decision. But, based upon the growth of the Washington Corporation and their track record of successful managers, it might be prudent to seek their advice. Personally, I thank Dennis Washington every time the Griz win.
