Where was all the mention of Dow (started the gift program), Ochs (outstanding citizen and QB), Mariani (outstanding person and WR/KR) Tuff (now working for Faith Chapel in Billings), Colt Anderson ( good citizen and business man), Trumain has had no known problems while in the NFL., and so many more I won't even bother trying to list them all as I'm sure to miss somebody. Of the one's mentioned in the article they constituted a very small percentage of the approximately 240-250 members of the team during the period stated.

The media doesn't sell talking about good guys doing good things. It sells talking about the bad guys. If you think the media is not going to make a big deal about all the incidents under Hauck, you are delusional. His hiring will not be good PR for the University. It will not go away. It will be magnified.

Spot on in regards to the media...and it gets worse by the day. Not real worried about PR, as I’m not about PC. If Hauck is hired I’m guessing seats will fill and people will spend money on hotels, meals, etc. Boosters want a return on investment In some cases and I believe Hauck will bring that

It would die down quickly. Who wants to read over and over about what occurred at UM under Hauck, who has been here since 2008? Even the Missoulian can't be that dumb.

Simply cancelling your subscription or having UM pull its advertising will not be enough to stop this kind of shoddy journalism. Boycotting anyone who advertises in that paper until they at least make a full commitment to fair and accurate journalism will be necessary!

I cancelled my subscription years ago, and while I still have to support some of the paper's advertisers I make it a point to limit my patronage as much as possible.

In my mind the inference's made in the article that tie BH to incidents that occurred long after he left border on libel! The purpose of publishing this trash is meant to incite, not inform.

Regardless of your opinion of Hauck, one simply cannot justify journalism of such low quality and ineptitude.

It ain't libel if its true.

Are you just a troll? Do you even root for the Griz?

Got a bad feeling this piece of crap article has cost Bobby the job....if so I hope there is enough in there for him to go after their ass in court

In all fairness the article didn't even mention the rise of "pitch forks and torches" under Bobby's regime.

This place once was ablaze with masses about to break out into riots at any given moment.

We can only hope that it tanked his chances.

I've been trying to think of another situation like the GrizFB-Missoulian relationship. Small town, with a nationally recognized program that the one local paper tries to shit on at every turn. I'm sure one exists, but it's usually so opposite. Can you imagine if a Kentucky b-ball player broke his leg to end his career, and the Lexington paper not only published a disturbing pic of the mangled leg, but refused to take it down at the player's request?

Lots of people trashing the Missoulian in this twittermissoulaian link. Former players, some local people, a local mom.

You know what else will be magnified? A new streak. Get ready.

Hope not, and don't think it will. If Haslam backs away from hiring Hauck, my guess is that he will pushed out as AD sooner than later. He can't afford a mistake at this point. He would disappoint almost all of the top and other significant supporters/boosters, because of a Missoulian article and the Twitter Mob. How much money will he be able to raise from the Twitter mob? If he's even considering this, he is too weak to be the AD, in my view. Not saying he is.

Good job Purdy and others

That is exactly the point! The fact is that the article impugned fault to Bobby Hauck for incidents that happened long after he left the university and had nothing whatsoever to do with.
In this case, the problems noted in the article from 2010 forward, regardless of whether they are true are not are attributed to Hauck. This makes them false by definition. The allegations are in writing and because they are or can be construed as defamatory against the subject are, again by definition, libelous.

I honestly thought the Missoulian was satirical, like The Onion. Is this not the case?
