Missoulian a National Enquirer-class rag

HEADLINE: 'She never said no'

IMAGE: Jordan Johnson tearfully testifies 'she never said no'.

The most poignant moment of yesterday and the crux of JJ's defense. Position of pic and quote above the fold seems about right.

It's classic National Enquirer. Sensational headline with a totally unrelated photo that shows the subject in a bad light.

Jordan wasn't tearing up as he was testifying that "she never said no". He was emotional about his dad's testimony about how hard it was on their family and how close Jordan was to his dad.

What I'm saying is, to the casual observer who picks up the paper and sees the headline and photo only, it looks like Jordan couldn't control his emotions when he said "she never said no". It leaves a totally inaccurate impression. In most people's minds, tearful denials don't come from innocent people.

I see it as sympathetic to his position.

And an accurate description of the highlights of yesterday's events.

To compare the Missoulian to the National Enquirer is a huge insult -- to the Enquirer. But I agree that the photo and headline tend to shed a sympathetic light on Johnson. Then again, if the moments don't match (photo taken from a different time frame than the headline testimony) then it's simply another pathetic attempt by the Missoulian to elevate itself to the level of the Enquirer.

Don't be surprised if JJ is acquitted; the National Enquirer will try to be first to publish Jane Doe's photo with their story.

I think the picture is fine.

I think the headline quote is fine.

I think together they paint in an inaccurate picture, which is in my mind, based on their recent history, precisely what the Missoulian intended.

That's two things we've agreed on through two straight days. Well said, Everett.

That was my point. Thanks for stating it more eloquently. :)

I wish I had a subscription to the Missoulian. That way I could call them up and tell them to cancel it immediately.

It is a simple fix, cancel your neighbors... :thumb:

The MT Standard is owned by the same company... you could always cancel that. :thumb:
