not so. i live in havre also, and alleging that someone is drunk does not constitute racism.

chavez has DUI, and has had multitudes of struggles, no question...but has also had multitudes of chances.

paytonlabels is the one to blame here, regardless of wbtfg's comment. wbtfg didn't insinuate ANYTHING that could be construed as racist. payton, as mentioned before was the one to connect stereotypes and bring it to our attention.


racism is the pinnacle of ignorance, but not far below that (on the ignorance ladder) are the people that cry racism when it's convenient.

honest-to-god?... no.. but I am a full blood. 1/4 Salish, 3/4 Blackfeet

2. I was. Then decided, I wasnt the one with the problem and regretted my earlier post to wbtfg. I didnt consider it racist. Jus bad smack. (in which case, wbtfg was completely out of line. this isnt the smack board.)

Thats not true, i got over a dislocated toe in 3 days running at full speed and that was for football so i think Mike will be fine.

im not an indian but i think its gay he said that.

i think it depends on who you are and how active you are for the days after you dislocate your toe to see how fast and how well it heals. just wondering.
 
Ironically, for the people who did not like this thread, it might be best if Chavez doesn't play this weekend. If you think one (possibly unintended) offensive comment posted on a message board was harmful then you'll probably shit your pants when MSU's student section rips into him. :shocked:
 
My,my, wbtfg makes an insensitive comment that has people questioning his good sense, then posts a followup that erases any doubt anybody might have had....Ditto for his disciple, Mung...15 yards and ejection for hitting out of bounds
 
I'm sure there are different extents of damage done with a dislocated toe. I was just going off the site below. It says you can be back on it as soon as its comfortable, but probable outcomes are listed as 2-3 weeks. All I know is that Mike has been in an air cast the last couple of days, so I imagine it'll be longer than 3 days. I wouldn't be suprised to see him next week though. We'll just have to wait and see how he feels on it.

Seyfert's torn ACL should have taken at least 6 months to heal according to doctors, but Krysko mentioned he might be back late in the year on the Coach's show the other night. So these are just guidelines, but recovery times vary.
 
The problem I have with the original statement is that having a DUI and breaking your toe have no specific relationship. A blood alcohol content of .08 is a reasonable limit for assessing driving impairment but it is hardly falling down drunk or getting out of control drunk (or however one might break a toe while intoxicated). Therefore simply jumping from MC having a DUI to asking if a random injusry came from being drunk begs a question from a reasonable person. Perhaps the statement wasn't intended to be racist but could certainly be construed as racist which for me is a good enough reason to just not ask it. Of course it is well documented that Native Americans suffer disproportionately from alcohol related issues. It is simply unfortunate that more is not done to get at the root of the problem rather than a whole bunch of dumb statements and finger pointing, and in that I am not talking about this forum.

and having a dui and being a native american have no specific relationship either but you still pulled the race card. if you think for one minute that if it was criswell who had the dui's, cat fans wouldn't use that for smack your just wrong and i think you know it. every chance you guys get we hear about obrein which really sucks because most of us didn't like him when he was here! are you racsists? i doubt it. and i agree with mungs post. apparently there are going to be a lot of "rascists" at this weekends game because you can bet that chavez is gonna hear it. GET REAL!
 
Hey razz the guy for anything you wish, just don't try to wrap it all in one nice little package like all the pieces fit. Sure there are a lot of circumstances that could be related but Sherlock Holmes you ain't. I am sure MC has felt the heat for his choices for a long time and I am sure he will be ready to take whatever you punks throw at him. So let me get this straight. Implying the Chavez might have been drunk is offensive because he is Nativa American. Let's forget the MIPs, DUIs, and most of the times Mike Chavez has made print has been due to alcohol related incidents. So saying he is drunk is racist, and your respond by saying that is a "gay" comment. Come on guys if you're going to be a bunch of PC (politically correct) nancies, then atleast go a 100% with it. That way we can't call you a hypocrite and a cry baby. Very few people got offended when we bashed Marcus Vick on this site, but is that because he's black and not Native American? I thought the same thing when I read that Mike Chavez got hurt, it has nothing to do with race it has to do with not giving him the benefit of the doubt. Plus apparently the guy who said it is a Cat fan. So good for him. All we do is talk crap about the Cat fans on this site, God forbid they would say something back. We kept saying maybe Marcus Vick will go to MSU, because they have no integrity when it comes to who they recruit. If you use "gay" as if it were an insult, you're making the assumption that being homo is something to be ashamed of.

I remember a story a few months ago about people in Utah who were denied their request by the MVD to get costumized liscence plates that read "gay" or something to that effect. That amounts to an official condemnation of homosexuality on the same grounds.
