Meyer/graves

I would like to see our defense get both Meyer and Graves on the field at the same time. Seems to me like both of these guys have been very good this year. Two tough Montana kids that play like they have pride in their state and program!

When we starting getting into run heavy teams like the cats, Sac, and Davis, Graves should be n the field way more .

Neither will sit. You know that.

Neither. Dime package on 3rd and long is your answer. Any of the 4 can blitz and any of the 4 can cover!

Does a "dime" package constitute six DB's? Because we already have 5 on the field at all times...

Uhhh, I don’t think it matters that much who is running around in the secondary for the run heavy teams. DT is now at critical. I was worried about this in the spring and still worried. One injury away from the Swiss cheese package. Why in the world that position wasn’t recruited for as position #1 is beyond me. Maybe it was, but the Griz whiffed.

It will be the new excuse for Hoops and AZGrizFan when the defense is getting steamrolled by quality teams.

Yes dime means 6 DBs. I didn’t suggest it for base downs. Many teams go dime or even quarter if you have the creatures to do it on 3rd and long.

The reason for it is in nickel (5 DBs) if you blitz a DB you are going to have an LB man to man on someone. Offenses know this and know that you are more likely to blitz an LB. In dime or quarter you can be more multiple and blitz from anywhere without being worried about the guys covering.

Also, I was just answering the question. I am not truly pushing to do that.

Once again, you don't have very good reading comprehension. I was VERY vocal on here that DL and CB were my two biggest concerns going into this season, and outside of Gradney I've seen nothing from the other corners to alleviate THAT CB concern, and with Detrick going down, Nuce going down, Kashmitter going down, an already thin D-Line just got much, much thinner. It was probably the ONE position where we could least afford to lose multiple players. And yet here we are, not even 1/3 of the way through the season and down 3 guys who were gonna provide valuable depth at the interior line position. Gonna be a rough ride if we're depending on the 278 lb TE to play meaningful snaps in meaningful games. Had we stayed healthy it would have been questionable the success we'd have. Down three key bodies, it only gets tougher.

You call it what you want. Excuses. Facts. Whatever. But it's the reality we're in. Exactly how many scholarships should Bobby assign to the DL? Are there any backup O-linemen who played both ways in high school that could fill in?

Maybe YOU have some eligibility left? Tell me any team that could lose 3 key DL players and still perform optimally...I'll wait.
