Someone told me recently that a senior university official had told him, within a week of the firings, that the lost contribution figure was over one million dollars and climbing. Don't know if that's true.

People should make donations or not. It's up to them. But publicly holding out until the University does what you want the University to do? That's just plain tacky.

UM has had some major problems going on and donors and alumni want it stopped, and actions be taken to correct it. There's alot of people on here that make Bozeman the model of the actions UM needed to take to address the problem, but think UM has improved on the model by Engstrom remaining silent except for saying "a change in leadership." I fully understand why Engstrom is remaining silent for litigation strategy, but IMO what you are seeing with donors withholding donations etc is that UM did not learn from the Bozeman situation.

It may have been an unintentional screw up for MSU to blame all its problems on Kramer, but MSU did address what it felt it's problems were and that it was taking steps to correct them by firing him. UM has not done that. You'll find at least 50 posts on here that we "should know," but there is a large part of GrizNation that are not accepting that. The problems extend beyond athletics, and they want assurances UM is actually addressing the problems rather than merely sacraficing Pflu and O'Day and hoping the perception UM has had problems will go away.
