If his experience was anything like mine then maybe he said he couldn't stand up straight. I had a low burning bellyache (probably something akin to being a Bobcat fan watching them play last weekend) and my body just wouldn't straighten up. It wasn't necessarily more painful to straighten up; I simply could not do it.

I got a couple legit questions for the Cat People. Seriously. Not trolling

I asked earlier and didn’t get an answer: is TA left handed? Did he break his throwing hand?

Also, the paper today said the Cats sent an email to fans explaining Choach’s illness and that the fans, “may have noticed from (Choach’s) halftime interview that he was not normal.” I’m trying really hard not to make any jokes about Choach’s surgery, because apparently it’s still too soon. But I gotta know: what did he say during halftime?

And a follow-up question if I may: what does he sound like when he is “normal”?
Troy is a righty. Broken bone is the left hand.

people were overreacting to choates halftime speech. we played awful. didn't do much of anything good. fans we're pissed. he came out and gave coachspeak and people didn't like it. i guess they wanted him to come out, take all the blame, say the coaches weren't prepared, etc. he didn't. he said they played poorly. had too many errors. missed some assignments. said it's not easy playing the #3 team in the country with your backup qb.

not sure what the problem was. none of what he said was untrue. people wanted more fire i guess. in light of the news of how shitty he was feeling...now people are "giving him a pass"....

perfect example of why players and coaches don't give a f*** what guys on message boards say because no one knows what is going on on the inside.

Actually, MSU played with the backup to the backup.

Who's the back-up head coach?

What else do you expect to go wrong this week?

hopefully nothing. i'd like to see and injury-free game. and a win. really don't see why we shouldn't be 3-1 when we host ewu in a few weeks.

I don't see why not either. Nor do I see why you wouldn't be 3-4 after the next three.

So, essentially, he was not acting “normal” when he was telling the truth. Got it.

Didn't hear any whining about refs from Cats this week....so that one is ready to be plugged in.....the injuries to some of their all-world 3 and 4 start recruits from the preseason blubber are front and center right now. A month ago, their new found depth at every position on the field (including QB) was going to save them from the injury excuse. Two weeks in and they are again the most injured team in America. Their amazing coach also got plenty of negative comments until they found out about the sickness/surgery. I truly wish him a speedy recovery....but "he better learn how to coach offense" (their words not mine) as I've already heard some doubt from Cat fans about that well-earned 3 year extension they gave him last year.

wait...fans complain about refs?!

just about everything you just wrote I could write about the griz fanbase. kind of like your two pages on the refs just this weekend.

it's not worth me responding as i'm not one of the fans that made those claims. people have a real bad habit lumping everyone together. you clearly share all of the exact same views as everyone on this board cause you're all griz. unfortunately I don't speak for all cat fans.

we had a couple injuries in the first game that were a bummer. limiting Andersen because of the hand is obviously going to hurt our team. guys like him don't come around every year. but overall we're where I thought we'd be. beat a decent WIU team, lost to a good SDSU team. we'll see what happens the next few weeks.

as far as choate learning to coach offense....I can understand why people are frustrated. i'll hold off my opinion on that until I see a few more games. I have my questions just like many people do.

lol. anything is possible. this town is going to be miserable if that were to happen. but i'd probably take that bet that we won't be 3-4 after 7....

although, I have no clue what kind of team we have so we'll probably lose the next 2 and then win the next two after that for all I know. :?

He just wasn’t quite himself. Usually he is very high energy and has a lot to say. I also thought he might have looked a little ill.

I didn’t interpret it in light of any perceived criticism.

If you’re asking a serious question, it is poor form to call someone by a childish name.

not sure what that last part means?

I did interpret as criticism because of the rest of the gameday thread. people were going crazy as often happens when they choose to type as they watch. choate was getting hammered along the way. and after he spoke at halftime he was hammered again. so that is exactly how I interpreted it.

then when you look at the comments after he decided to cancel his press conference (many of these comments by the same people critical of his halftime interview)...it's clear to see it was a lot of criticism. then people find out he was ill and they take back their comments.

like I said...all is fine. people are free to draw whatever conclusions they want regardless of the information they have. I just pointed out this was a perfect example of fans not knowing the entire situation but drawing conclusions just the same.

Yes fans complain about refs.....Griz fans even when the Griz win by 30+. Cat fans often only in close losses where one or two calls surely cost them the game!

Injuries...pretty sure almost every team in the country has a couple a game. But a few Cat guys go down and suddenly the depth isn't there..... once again. Washington Husky transfer, Oregon Duck QB transfer, Arkansas transfer, Va. Tech transfer, Gatorade of the Year players from Washington and Wyoming, "Own the State" ......boom! boom! boom! More booms over on Bobcat Nation than WWII.

Coaching.....Choate is God until Game 2....now questioning if he can ever come up with a decent offense. And even defense.....should it be a 3- 4 with less outside contain or a 4 - 3 that contains it a little better?.....Gregorak......"The Flying Mullet" and a LB specialist. Can't believe the Griz let him go...worst thing they ever did...he's got his system in place and LB's out the wazzoo (Boom! Boom! Boom!)

I respect Cats and do think they could improve in this Choate's 3rd year......but my God if their fans would just ease into a season for once......

don't disagree with this. though i'll point out this is the case with about every fanbase. sometimes it's just tougher to see when it's your own....

Hey they did come in at 2 on the coaches poll this week... with the 2 being the total number of votes received

Most interesting thing I heard regarding Choates coaching of offense and personnel, which let’s face it has been a train wreck for 3 years now, was what Colter and Tootell talked about on their podcast.

If Choate is going to make an excuse that they built their offense a very specific way, and most of that around a running QB game in Murray and Andersen, then why in the hell is this 4 star Travis Jonsen who is that fastest guy on the team and played at Oregon....which by the way you brought him in to be a QB....and is a running QB.....out catching passes on the perimeter instead of playing behind Center??

Instead they go with a passing QB in Rovig who didn’t really do that well at that either and try to put a square peg in a round hole? It was very fair criticism of Choate and his decision making and I’m surprised Cats fans aren’t more in arms about it.

Let this sink in....9 of 13 Cats drives were 3 and out 😳

this is the million dollar question right now. only two possible answers....

either this staff has no clue what they're doing, and clearly don't see what is so obvious right in front of their faces. I mean if colter and everyone else sees it...our coaches just must be idiots.

the other option is that jonsen is just not who we thought he was. he's basically regressed every year since high school so it's not out of the question that after everything they have seen of him...they don't think he's suited to run this offense whether he's athletic or not.

I don't know what the answer is... but there's likely more to it then simply our coaches can't see that jonsen is more like murray than rovig is like murray.

Most people here predicted 7-4 for the Griz, with a few optimists or pessimists going with 8-3 or 6-5. I feel like those are pretty realistic expectations.

Aren't many of the best cat players still on the second string awaiting more injuries to the starters?

Totally agree. And I just re-read the prediction thread on BN and that’s where the majority of our fans were too. Lots of 6-5 worst case....8-3 best case posts. Then you had the few predicting 3-4 wins and those predicting 10+ wins.

As a matter of fact there is a post of mine where a guy said 8 wins minimum and I joked with him that he must not have been a cat fan long with that prediction....

The simple fact is that as of right now, 2 weeks in the season I’d say both teams are right where the majority of both fanbases thought we’d be. These next few weeks will really start to shake things up.
