McGhee out til October

Having Ash as Coach and DM at QB is like dating a supermodel, but than she blows a guy on your anniversary. Than she apologizes and you take her back, than she does it again on your birthday. #BIGgamechokeartist
Your point is sharp as a razor! And pretty funny too

Aside from the usual suspects in here doing their thing, I appreciate most of the comments in here. McGhee is a classy guy and doesn't deserve to go out like this - I hope he can come back and play this year.

As far as depth goes, I find it a little optimistic the Cat fans who say we have so much depth everywhere and we will be fine. That may be true in some areas, but not everywhere. Hell our starting LB crew played the ENTIRE game at SMU, running with receivers all over the field. Why? Because behind those three are basically freshman with no experience at all. Losing Na'a and Alexi hurt, and the starting three we have are fine (if not pretty damn good), but we can't have another injury there.

Sure would be nice if Bleskin came in and lit it up, but there is no way to tell right now. It's easy to sit back there as a Cat fan and say we will be fine, but we are replacing an All-American QB. And it's easy to sit there are a Griz fan and say the Cats are doomed.

But there is one guy in this thread who said we were crazy to think Bleskin could come in and be the offensive MVP. Well, McGhee did it as a freshman... so these things can happen in Bozeman. ;)

P.S. I think Prukop has a higher ceiling than Bleskin and I hope he gets a good chance in these coming weeks to show his stuff.

Thanks for the more reasonable and informative post.

Lets put it this way..all those pro scouts that hung around Bozeman will make other plans. Anyone who thinks losing McGhee isn't a huge setback is naive. The cats are going to be running the ball more in the weeks to come and defenses won't have to concerned about a very good playmakers feet. Most defenses in this league have seen better quarterbacks than Bleskin. Not saying Jake isn't good but he's not great. Big loss for the cats and very unfortunate for McGhee.

Let me rephrase it this way. Bleskin/Prukop > McKinney/SSH/Gus, right now, by a HUGE margin.

Those of you thinking (hoping) the cats will face a major set-back with DM hurt are in for a rude awakening. They will win the next six games, with relative ease. Beyond that gets dicey, with or without DM.

Yeah. Sure. Two guys who have 8 passes between them and you ALREADY know how good they're going to be?

1) Just an friendly observation, but using the  in every single post kind of makes the funny not that funny.

2) We shall see, and you are correct. I have no way of knowing for sure. What I have seen in practice/srum of both sets lead me to believe they are in much better shape that the Griz would be in the same situation.

The thing is, by moving Bleskin to QB, now the 'Cat's lose their best QB and their best receiver. Bleskin accounted for about 40% of the 'Cat's receiving yards, and 30% of their catches this year. Even if Bleskin is close to being as good as McGhee as a QB, is he going to throw it to himself 40% of the time? I suppose the 'Cats could have a backup receiver that is better than Bleskin and will take his place without missing a beat.

Is Bleskin an athletic QB similar to DM? I ask because having a QB that can avoid pocket pressure and move around a bit really helps that O-line. And if they're used to a QB that can move it seems to back fire pretty bad if you get one that isn't as mobile.

Different Bleskin.

Hate to hear about any injury to these young athletes. I know from personal experience that these things can haunt you the rest of your life (and especially begin to reappear/worsen at about 50). Get well soon DM!

Doh. Shows how much I pay attention to the 'Cats.

I wish DM a speedy recovery. injuries are terrible things to deal with in sports, especially when they happen to your star QB. the rest of the team will just have to step up their game with his absence. Look forward to DM getting back to 100% in time for his closeup meeting with Jordan Tripp and the rest of the Griz D come Griz-Cat Gameday. He'll be back, for the brawl of the wild!

Why? They've never had trouble with one in the past, have they?

Bleskin is very athletic. He can run. He knows the offense just as good as DM. Tim Cramsey the OC said Bleskin gets things right 99.9% and that he is the most intelligent QB he has coached in his over 20 yrs. He is not the runner DM is but he has good speed. He has a really accurate arm. I don't think they are going to modify the playbook and be more conservative as the coaches feel comofrtable that he will do the job. I imagine the first few series they may, to get him off to a positive start but then they will let him go. Anyway, he has the opportunity and we will all see on Saturday how he handles it.

Being he's stepping in to replace the 10th best Quarterback in the Big Sky, he doesn't really have to do that well to "make the grade" in Bozeman, does he.

Pre-season poll had Cats at #2. Now with DM, two returning linebackers, stud DE, Defensive Tackle and an expected Wide Receiver threat all out since the pre-season poll, where should the bobcats be rated?
I know that the polls mean jack sh_t, but it gives a good look at what difference DM, ( and others) probably mean to the Bobcats hopes.

Go Griz!

MSU is playing Colorado Mesa this weekend, which will them nothing about what Bleskin can do.

According to Coach Ash this morning, Colorado Mesa plays a very unusual defense with a 3 man dl, three lb and 3 safeties in sort of a ring and the 2 CB. It's not something our offense has seen before. So, the QB will have to recognize some different reads than usual. So, it may be a good test for Bleskin. If he cannot handle Colorado Mesa, than I do think that will tell the coaches soemthing. If he does well, that is good and the coaches will have the film to evaluate his overall performance.
