McGhee out til October

bigsky33 said:
Biga75 I don't think when they say out indefinitely it means he will be out longer than sometime in October. The statement that came out from MSU today said he would be back in October. There is not a definite date in Ocober. The injury report that comes out from MSU has three categories-Out, Indefinitely and Questionable. However, they do have a good idea about when a player will be back, just not an exact date.

Three to seven weeks is the reasoned window on return. That's close to the last weekend of October; perhaps into November if beyond that seven weeks. But a shoulder injury can be tricky; most medical personnel for baseball teams, from what I've heard, say they'd rather see an elbow injury than one to the shoulder. There's really not that much of a 'joint' there about the shoulder, technically speaking. Not like other joints of the body. If there's muscle or cartilage tear that would make it more difficult to recover from, I would think. I've never had a separated shoulder and I don't envy anyone that's had one, either. Don't really know the severity as such either but it's a 'wait and see' scheme these days, I guess. Maybe just to ascertain the real damage.

I hope he heals soon. I never like to see a key guy get hurt and I don't want any excuses when we kick the dog snot outta them.

Cats could go 4-8 or 5-7 easily.

Upcoming games for cats may be best case scenario for back ups.....bet they find a way to win em all. DM injury if not too serious may not derail their season...if serious the closing games will be an issue!

No panic in Bozeman. We have a #2 that is well prepared, smart, very talented and has an excellent, accurate arm. We also have a good #3 in Prukrop. Bleskin gets an opportunity to show what he can do. I feel confident he will step-up.

I still don't understand how DM and a few others got hurt against SMU when the real body-bag game is this weekend against a hapless d-2 school. Please explain. Thanks! :thumb:

Ask a coach. That's where I heard it from. Injuries can happen in any game-at your level teams, playing up or playing down. What Coach Kramer said made sense to me, that when you play down players are less skilled and do stupid things that can cause injuries.

They were just blowing smoke at you. Injuries playing against bigger, faster and better teams increase the chance of injury. Of course, injuries can happen anytime in football, but the chances are greater in play-up games.

That is incorrect. Ask Delaney, or any other FCS coach. Or better yet, post some data to back up your claim.

LOL! Care to place a wager in that? You guys will see soon enough how much quality depth we now have thanks to Ron Ash.

Name one thing Ron Ash has done for the Cats.

He get's the cat's to a couple big games every year! :thumb:

I really do hope you are right about that. Wishing DM a speedy recovery though, he's worked so hard for this year and your chances I believe are the best they have been in a while this season, not so sure about next year. We are all interested to see what the other kids can do.

My view comes from personal experience and observation as well as discussions with multiple Griz and other coaches and 2 UM AD's over the years. While everyone doesn't necessarily agree, it is common sense. If you play more games against bigger, stronger, faster and better players, you are more likely to be injured. They will run you over. They will catch you from behind. And they will catch you on the sideline and hit you hard, just like they caught and hit McGhee. Sure, you can get hurt playing against weaker teams and players, or walking down the street, but you are more likely to be hurt playing against better competition. Do you think an FCS wouldn't sustain more injuries playing in the NFL?

Why do you think little kids tackle football has rules relating to weight, such as backs can't be over a certain weight--or why do they have weight divisions?

Do you think MSU and UM could play in the SEC without suffering more injuries?

Their chances were better last year when they had Minter and Schreibeis. They are a poorer defensive team this year.

Ron Ash will get his team ready to play.

He always does. Many think he doesn't have what it takes to be a successful Residential Account Manager, but his teams always close the sale.

I just love it when bobcat fans don't even know the name of their own head coach of their very own football team. :msugrad:

Thanks go out to all those loyal and well informed bobcat fans with special thanks to all the many contributions from "poorgriz," who dropped the "Ron" word. Let's hear it for Mr. "poorgriz" :stupid:

Be careful. How many Griz fans still insist to this day that there is an "h" in Pflugrad. (Phlugrad). Seriously.

that has to be it. the damn "n" button is so far away from the "b" button there is no chance this was a typo. this guy clearly has no idea what the name of the head coach is. :thumb:

I would argue with you if I knew much about football (which I don't) nor will I claim that I do. Never played the game (ok a little in HS but hunting season caught my attention and still has it over 25 years later) I just thought they had some momentum and confidence this year....well confidence at least. Cheers.
