He could end up being a stud but it worries me that Travon couldn't get into Florida because of academics.

I really wouldn't worry too much about that. Believe it, but UF is a tough school to get into. My best friend down here is married to one of the best internal medicine DOs you can see in this state. They met during their undergrad years at UF. She told me that given their current standards she probably couldn't get in now.

Athletes have different standards then the general student population. If you pass the clearinghouse, you can get in almost anywhere.

Marshall fan here. Montana is getting a great person in Travon, on and off the field. He not only represented Marshall on the field but was one of the first to volunteer to do anything in and around the community.

Travon after being one of 3 RBs last year was moved to CB this last year. It was mainly do to a hip injury before last season. I don't think he has ever fully recovered from it. Hopefully before he suits up for the Griz it will be healed. He simply couldn't make the cuts to hit the holes he needed. But the plays he did make while at Marshall was mind blowing.

Here is one of Vans better cuts and run at the 3:00 mark, in last years bowl game. I hope Travon has a great career at Montana and wish him nothing but the best.

He must be one hell of a CB then. CB's need good hips. Hard to believe he made that move well with a hip problem. I look forward to him being a GRIZ!

Damn that cut was sick.

Marshall's coach is Doc Holliday?? Is Wyatt Earp an assistant there too?

Nope and he won't be your huckleberry either. Holliday is considered to be the best South Florida recruiter there is though.

Travon was moved to CB but didn't play that often. He was shut down after the 8th game of the season. He was recruit to FL and other places to play CB.

Careful; Doc Holliday was a great Griz Bball player in the 60's....

Let me tell you something. The only reason athletes go to Marshall is because they are a step below the competition, or it's because they're not smart enough to go anywhere else. Marshall has some weird academic thing where kids who don't qualify for some of the larger schools can still go play there, same thing happened with Kevin Grooms and AJ Legget.

And while UF is tough for normal people to get into, it's not that hard for an athlete to get in. Percy Harvin wasn't exactly a smart guy.

Looks like Montana will be getting 2 Marshall RBs. Few sources tweeting that RB Tron Martinez to also to transfer to Montana.

http://twitter.com/herdnationnews

Tron took a red shirt last season after an injury in spring practice. Tron transfering makes sense though, he may never see the field at Marshall again. After Van was moved Marshall started to have a 3 headed monster at RB in Kevin Grooms, Steward Butler and Remi Watson.

Both Tron and Travon have 2 years left to play 2.

Hey! Would he be willing to play both ways? Listen here Jack, I had a goat once that went both ways. Best goat I ever had.

Well there's a tweet saying something about Tron not being able to play football.

Tron's twitter is private but it says "montana" in his little bio at the top. I know that wasn't there a couple days ago. So take from that what you will.

You ain't talkin' up that thar "Billy Goat Tavern" mascot, etc., are ya? < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_the_Billy_Goat" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some interesting insight I came across:

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=168&f=1969&t=6013661" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Would be also interesting if both Van and Curtis White are 100 % healthy. The 3rd best TE out of hs paired with the 9th best RB. QB? Who needs a QB?

We could just run in 9/10 plays... it's not like we can pass the damn ball. :lol:

Tron Martinez has been "medically disqualified" from playing football. MU will honor his scholarship, if he chooses to stay
That is what the tweet says
