Marcus Knight to transfer or retire?

That book is pretty much a blueprint of how NOT to run a program, then to bring the guy responsible for the scandal back to run the show is comical. 4-4 in Conference, 6th in the BigSky and 55-21 a&$ whooping, yep you guys are doing it right.

2.26 GPA department wide? Coaches with DUIs on payroll? Murder, Meth, Coke distribution rings? PED suspensions? I don't think you want to compare notes.

You know what's funny? If the Griz take down NDSU, that one win would basically shit on your last 5 and bring the Griz back where they belong, your big brother that ignores your existence. It's sad but true, one game would flip this script

"I would like to say thank you to the University of Montana, the Montana Grizzly Football program, my coaches, my teammates, and the great Montana Fans

It has been an honor to serve and play as a Griz. Thank you for your support and God Bless."

Well whatever his future holds, God Bless him too.

Glad he became a Montana Grizzly. We were a better team because of his ability. Sorry to see him go. If you're reading this, best of luck to you Mr. Knight, wishing you the best!
Go Griz!

For whatever it is worth, it must me noted that Marcus Knight did not put his name in, or request, the portal until Nov 22nd, when the season was over!!! You can look it up. It appears many jumped the gun on him and unfairly criticized him. He was basically injured after the Cal Poly game and unable to continue. There is a lot more to it, but that is pretty much it. There was some significant misunderstandings, it appears. He wound up putting his name in the portal after all that went down. Just did not know what else to do, since he does have one more year of eligibility left. I also heard his knee is all the way healed now and he is doing very well. Who knows what his future may bring.

Well I hope he kicks some ass at his next stop. Seemed like a great kid and great Griz.

It's just too bad that this whole story was a so balled up from the outset. Various "confirmed" announcements about how he'd hit the portal, Hauck handing his number off to someone else, and now this.

No idea what is or isn't true in any of this, but if anyone had been thinking, it could have been handled so that it looked like he was injured and couldn't continue, and he could have hit the portal when he did to see about what may lie ahead. Which to me, at this point, sounds like it was the truth. Less drama, less distraction, but alas, no fun. Sometimes the truth does that.

Hauck's well-known attitude regarding transfers and portal kids reminds me of how Donald Trump immediately turns on anyone who chooses to leave his team. They are now the enemy. So many college head coaches realize that the old "loyalty to the team" attitude doesn't work any longer. College football has become big business, even for the players. Because of this, many head coaches welcome back players who enter the portal to test the NIL waters, but want to return to their old team. I don't see Hauck ever doing that. Just another example of how the game has passed Bobby by, IMO.

How does your narrative fit with supposedly trying to persuade Britt to stay?

Which schools welcome back portal players?

Coastal Carolina and Sac St are two that just did. I'd actually be curious to see what the staff would do if Britt decided he wanted to stay. My guess is they'd take him back.

That's the first I've heard of that. Please elaborate.

His narrative was that the staff knew they might lose Britt in the season, so they made him #2 in hopes of keeping him, which doesn't jive with this idea that the staff also ostracizes every player that doesn't show 100% fealty to Bobby.

I other words, a great example of how hard it is to keep your story straight when you're constantly spewing random bullshit every day.

The staff had no clue they were losing Britt until his exit meeting where he told them.

And not simply because Brown was literally gagging? Wow.

Isn't that just normal? You don't know something until you're told?

As a walk on possibly, but unlikely

Nope. The QB for Coastal pulled his name out of the portal and is staying there and the WR from Sac that the Griz offered did the same.

These are examples of a kid entering the portal due to a head coaching change that pulled out after feeling comfortable with the new guy. I am not sure that you will find many examples of a kid entering the portal and returning to their old school when the coaching staff is not new.

:thumb: I thought you meant YOU had info on a coach trying to convince him to stay.

Good points. Just saw the Weber state QB (not Barron) just recommitted to Weber after entering portal which also falls under the circumstances you laid out (Hill moving on).
