Marcus Knight to the portal

Knight was dinged up last week so was more than likely inactive today due to that. Then deck needing a different number as a punt return man worn Koppang makes sense as to possibility Knight is still around.
While this is an explanation, everything still feels very strange, to me. I have a hard time thinking Shaun would tweet that out without having a solid source backing it up, but who knows.

I did some digging myself and found nothing.

I think its 50/50, it could very well be something academic or personal that kept him off the field. If he was transferring you'd think we'd still see him somewhere in the stands.

I know people that know him and he still is carrying a 3.5 GPA Not academic.

Nothing to do with treatment. MK had an unfortunate injury and came back at 1/2 speed. He wasn't the same back, didn't look as sharp and Ostmo was firing on all cylinders. Just because you wear the jersey doesn't entitle you to playing time, you have to earn the spot and I don't think he did not 100% his fault but if he really wanted it he would have shown more heart and energy.
Huh? What examples might you offer that he showed reduced heart and energy. Think about what he had to go through just to get back on the field. More heart and energy than any of us will likely know.

Id rather not see him run over a 100 yds on us. If he still plays next year, I guarantee he will have a monster year and the griz will look dumb as hell

I just don't see it that way. I would even suggest that the Griz have 4 better backs.
Suggest all you want; it's not resonating.

He is graduating and it's cold up here; he can play his senior year someplace warm. You can take the man out of Capistrano, but you can't take the Capistrano out of the man.

Pretty sure he grew up in Washington. Very used to the cold.

Also, what a classless move to have Deck wearing #21. Truly a horrible move to do that.
MK is from San Juan Capistrano, CA.

I don't care how people try to spin it, but the current version of Marcus Knight is not the same version as before the injury. He was passed on the depth chart and didn't respond well. I don't for a second think that he wouldn't slide down the depth chart more in the future.

Actually, he is.not. He moved California his junior year in HS. Hw was born and raised in the Pacific NW. He is very used to cold and raining weather. I highly doubt a little snow would bother him. No evidence of that.

I have had more than my share of fighting back and adversity....he spent too much time whining on twitter about playing time but didn't back it up on the field....his fault?? probably not 100% with some Oline issues, maybe a lack of opportunity but all I saw was a guy and his dad saying he is healthy, he is ready, he deserves to be starting, etc.....but when he got in, he didn't seem to have the energy and heart that Ostmo showed...just my opinion...

No you guys are right. Not butt hurt here. Just seemed odd. . .and yes a little harsh. Wishing Knight well. It all works out one way or another.

Should the Griz have retired #21?

Yes, in honor of Yo Humphrey, the greatest RB in Griz history. 6,000+ yards of total offense and 62 career TD’s if the FCS would ever pull their heads out of their asses and retro add everyone’s pre-‘02 playoff stats. 2,600+ total yards and 26 TD’s his Sr season in ‘01, the last year post season stats were not included.

I just checked the NCAA transfer portal and as of this morning Marcus Knight is NOT listed in the portal...yet.

Kyle Hansen said he’s still on the team. Might just not have submitted the paperwork yet but coach might know his intentions.

Maybe he doesn't want to be around for the impending ass-whooping that's coming this weekend. Can't really blame him.

Once again, why are you over here? Don’t you have a rivalry game against a hot team to worry about and an early playoff exit to plan??? Make like a good bee and buzz off.

He does have that to worry about, but his team is not the SacBees.

Apparently now it’s official.

Good, dont need quitters on the team its poor enough as it is.

I can see how his mentality wouldnt mesh with Haucks personality so its no surprise he quit

He is an elite back. Wish him well. Great kid and does not deserve the negatively of folks thinking it took him awhile to come back. No one knows his circumstances.
He will be missed. We are not better without him.

Was an elite back. I hope he figures out what he wants and is able to make that work.

No one here knows the exact set of circumstances, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he made a decision, got someone's attention, told them he was done and that conversation set in motion a series of events that lead up to what was this past Saturday, including Deck running on the field in the 21 jersey. No one misinterpreted what was said. But based on all the waffling since, it's possible someone changed their mind.

All this is, for all the world to see, a distraction. No one needs that, this week of all of them, not when the team still has a shot at achieving some goals for this season. And I'll disagree all day about the value of missing someone who decided they don't want to be part of something anymore. They've got a group of guys who want to be there, and they'll be just fine handling the running back position.

It's one thing to enter the portal when the season is over...it's a whole other thing to go enter as the season begins to climax.

I wish him the best, but just can't get behind the timing of his decision. Reeks of selfishness IMO.
