Marc Mariani Greatest Griz WR ever?

Not sure it's funny, but waving that flag is something that should be called out, one way or another. And I still think Mariani rises to the top.

For me, Marc will be No. 1, but it's ironic, when I was at UM, Smokin Joe was my favorite, and was really a huge favorite with the student section at the time. And it's funny, I used to tell Marc about JD all the time, even before he walked on. I think they both have a legit claim to the greatest Griz receiver. JD did his damage in two years, and didn't get the benefit of his stats from eight playoff games. But on the flip side, he had DD, Ah Yat and as wide open of an offense as there was in ALL of college football at the time. Marc also did the bulk of his damage in two seasons, but in a much more conservative offense (and if you believe some egrizzers, an offense that actually never threw the ball). Marc also had two years of Chase Reynolds being a 1,000-yard rusher which makes what he did all the more incredible in my eyes, and also had two different starting quarterbacks, and three if you count when Roper was still rotating snaps with Selle the first part of the 09 season. So it's pretty easy to make a case either way.

Not to hijack the thread but where does he stack up in all time returners?
I haven't had confidence in our return game since Marc...

He probably would be the greatest for those who really started following the Griz within the last decade
My first Griz game was against the Vandals in 1980. I have missed only a handful of home games since 1993, and attended many away games. MM is the greatest Montana Grizzly WR I have ever seen play.
