i'm as happy as anybody for the win tonight at sac state but the major emerging story for me this season is the lack of playing time for qvale--one minute at bozeman, six at northern arizona, none tonight. arguably the most talented center recruit at montana in years, and we blow off a redshirt year so he can spectate from a front row seat side aisle?
i simply don't get it--either you have the confidence to play him and tolerate freshman mistakes, or you redshirt him. the staff can't have known everything in advance, but if this goes on, they will have made a huge blunder in talent evaluation, and cost us a valuable player and potentially great year down the road. i'm on record as saying we lack a three and a point guard, and am willing to tolerate what may turn out to me a mediocre year, but the emerging bad judgment on qvale just discourages the hell out of me.
