This is about the last year Hauck can milk the UNLV and SDSU trains of people he might have contacted during his times at those locations....

So your saying that the discount auto parts store is about to close? Will "Big" game Bobby have to buy his own raw metal and manufacture his own parts? Holy shite, how will he find the time between that and having to deny his wife's adventures forging his name on bullshit MAGA letters.
MAGA letters, Yes! All the more reasons to like the guy. BH and his assistants are not short of contacts in the sport and will be just fine, lest you should worry.

Robbie is gutsy and a dynamic runner, but I don't think he will develop into the passer needed to be a true dual-threat qb.
I think he could play in the slot.

I think slot or RB, if he can stand the punishment.

He won’t see the field over Bergen or Sulser. Or Flowers. Or Fontes

Get him a bit more stacked and he could run the wildcat situationally. Kind of like how Jack Colletto ran it at Oregon State. Except Robbie would be more of a passing treat.

Bahaha! If your concern is football coaches that aren’t liberal you should stop watching football. How about the WNBA, tennis, soccer or birdwatching?

He does some good things in that bowl game video compilation.

Great get; San Diego HS, BH recruited him back then. Dual threat guy, can be just what we need. Was super impressive in their bowl game.

“Johnson started the Frisco Bowl and passed for 333 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a fourth score. For the season, he completed 138 of 223 passes (61.9 percent) for 1,424 yards with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions.”

I agree this was a tremendous pick up!

Not to mention he was the main guy toward the end for a SDSU team who went 12-2

You should do a little research before you're so dismissive. Suggest you watch a replay of the Frisco Bowl, Dec. 21 and reassess your post.

Definitely didn’t dismiss him, just overly cautious to get super excited over someone who’s only started one year and didn’t exactly have eye popping stats on a team that went 12-2. Sure he was playing better overall competition then he’ll face here but I’m definitely not sold on someone who has yet to even put on a Griz practice jersey. Will he be here for spring?

I'm stoked for him. Excited to watch him dismantle BSC teams and take us to a NC. He will be our starter and I wouldn't be surprised if we go undefeated. This guy is a game changer for us. As long as he and Knight stay healthy, we are going to have an exciting offense this year. Can't fucking wait.

Curious and looking for a knowledgeable take. Why would a guy who just got the start in a bowl game (suggests he's got a good chance to start next year) drop down to an FCS school for one year? Football-wise, what's the motivation?

Grad transfer, I think.

Because he played last year at SDSU due to injuries. They have a younger guy they like and Johnson will not be the guy. He already has his degree and can go to Montana with a couch he know and likes, take masters degree courses, and have a chance to be the dude at one of the best FCS teams in the country.

Frankly I really like a guy who travels with his couch. It shows the man has commitment. Yes I’m going to a new school, in a new state, but damn it I’m bringing my leather sectional with me!

I tried doing that at my office. Said I needed some “me time”, especially right after lunch. They frowned on that. NO COUCH, they said.

Fuckers.

Because the Toilet Bowls are meaningless and he wants to play for a real championship, at 9am, in a soccer stadium, on ESPN+. Duh.

Funny enough, they also happen to play a bowl game in that very same soccer stadium, and he and his team just so happened to play in that bowl game this year. So to say that bowl games aren’t played in soccer stadiums in this instance, is false.

Yes, GTID, I know. That was the (apparently failed) joke.

My fault, I failed to pick up on the sarcasm. I sometimes struggle to figure out when you’re being serious and when you’re kidding.

The two fbs bowl game that were played in Frisco Texas Toyota stadium

Texas San Antonio played San Diego State attendance was 15,801...

U of North Texas played Miami of Ohio attendance was 11,721...

Fcs championship game... Ndsu- Montana State attendance was 18,942...

And those 2 bowl games with lower attendance both had Texas teams in them than the FCS title game.

From what I gather, at least here in SD, is that Hoke had committed to his younger QB's next year that includes a La Jolla Country Day Kid and a Mississippi State Transfer. Johnson was rumored to have some interest from a few other FBS schools and to be honest I thought that was the path he was going to take. What I think played a role is that he's a sixth year senior, grad school kid and he's transferring to play. He wasn't going to get that option even last year as Brookshire would have been the player had it not been for injury and ineffectiveness at SDSU, and I think that played a role as to where he ended up. He's sat a majority of his career and now that he's got a taste of the starters life I don't think he wanted to transfer to a place where he was going to be shuffled to the back of line again. No guarantee that he enters game 1 as QB1 but chances are pretty good that he does.

That is a similar path that Carson Baker (former Helix HS, SDSU and WKU player) is looking to take. I think Baker ends up in a FCS school and for a while I thought he was a prime candidate to end up at the UM considering the San Diego connections. Not sure that happens now but considering what I think is a pretty volatile QB room right now, I don't think UM wants to go through another year w/out two or three good options at QB.
