OK, the ISU loss for the Men is in the past. We can dwell on it as much as we want, but it won't go back and change the L to a W.
I posted that the Griz are in deep trouble before the other scores last night rolled across, things are still in the Griz' hands to lock up a #1 or #2 spot. Lets have a look at the current standings;
Northern Arizona 8-1 16-7
Montana 6-3 16-5
Montana St. 6-3 13-10
Sacramento St. 5-4 14-9
Eastern Wash. 5-4 10-12
Weber St. 3-6 9-13
Idaho St. 2-7 10-11
Portland St. 1-8 8-14
And here is the rest of the schedule for the Griz;
Home against MSU, Sac, Roberts, & NAU
Road against EWU and PSU
IMO, thats pretty darn good schedule! The Griz will need a packed and rowdy crowd for their home games, and assuming they can win the two more on the road (PSU shouldn't be a huge challenge, EWU is a different story, that one is a total toss-up), these guys will lock up a 1 or 2 spot.
Looking at the upper half of the conference here's everyone else's schedule;
MSU - home against NAU, Idaho & Sac, away UM, PSU, & EWU
NAU - TOUGH schedule, next two games are at home against ISu and Weber, then their final 4 games are all on the road, MSU, WKY, Sac and UM
Sac - home against Weber, ISU, NAU. Away UM & MSU
EWU - Home against PSU, UM & MSU, on the road against Weber, ISU and CS Fullerton.
------
Look at it, if the Griz can take care of business they'll either be hosting or get the 2nd spot and a 1st round bye! What we can do is pack the house and get loud!
If I were to predict (though my Griz colored glasses) I think the host of the conf tourneys will be in the state of Montana, of course I'd rather see it in Missoula, but Bozeman has just as equal a chance.
A few random guesses;
1. UM
2. MSU
3. NAU
4. EWU
5. Sac
6. Weber
EWU to be the dark horse, of all the teams in the Big Sky they scare me the most. (The Stuckey factor)
