Locker Rooms...

This is somephotos of the new locker room USU built a few years ago. I would think UM could do something similar.

Thats really clean.. Looks good!

As I stated earlier, $25 a month from all Griz fans for a year would pay cash for new facilities. I don't know any Griz fan who can't afford $25 a month for a year. Again with just 50,000 fans that is 15 Million in one year.

Brint W. could take the donations and place them in an account at a local bank. (One year of interest would be around $600,000.)

Chris could set up a donation PIN on this site so everyone could see where the money is at and how much there is. Also, I believe Chris could set up an option that would automatically give the donator a receipt for their contribution...(this way, if there wasn't enough donation at the end of the year, the money could be refunded to each person or they could allocate it to another cause.)

Everything would be electronically controlled so the cost would be minimum...

Yes I am volunteering Brint and Chris just because of their postion on this board and within the community. Any and everyone can help.

Folks, I am serious about this issue...lets quit complaining and take ownership of the problem, get it fixed and then eat drink and be merry.... Go Griz!!

I'm having lunch with Dan Ingram, I was actually thinking of doing some sort of message board fund raiser - we could just set it up so funds go directly to athletics so no one is "holding" anything and we could keep a tracker to show how much has been raised.

You are the man in the know that I trust...lets get-r-done! Lets make a fan option like Green Bay Packers have...This will show the recruits that the fans care!

That would be a great idea, I look at what UND has done with their Spirit Campaign over the last 20 years...I think they have about $325 million right now...and think Montana should be following their lead. Of course most of that money is earmarked towards the educational side (scholarships, faculty support, program enhancement) but facility upgrades are also a part of it and they are building a 13 million dollar IPF right now. Interesting to note their goal for the "Athletics" portion of the campaign was 30 million and they have 66 million donated currently.

We are getting to the season of GSA sponsored dinners, BBQ's, golfing events etc...We can setup fund raising boxes at each of these events. I'm sure there is someone in each GSA chapter willing to help out with this. I know here in Great Falls, there is alway a nice turn out for the griz BBQ.

One of the things most people don’t realize is that you can pledge money over an installment period. You don’t have to give a large lump sum to make a difference.

I am doing $10,000 over 5-years. $2,000/year isn’t that big of deal, but it helps in the long run. This is going straight to the facilities improvement.

I kinda like this idea, as well as the amounts suggested. This could tap into a different source of donations. While I doubt that it would ultimately raise much in comparison to the needed funds, it could help get momentum going and raise the profile of the project. Doing it in conjunction with the actual UM fund-raising effort would probably be best. It might work best, for the egriz portion, to have the posters put their posting name to the commitment. It could be used for non-egrizzers, i.e. the public, too. The internet and social media are obviously powerful mediums. On the other hand, it would probably result in national publicity on the dismal state of the current weight and locker rooms, and could negatively impact players not yet being recruited. With the apparent current thinking (of a new building between the Adams Center and the stadium, with renovations in the old space), I assume the cost could get up to $10 million (and would certainly be way over $5 million). That would be a huge project.

Am I the one that called you a “big dick player”?

If I was trying to show off I could have lied and said I donated $100k. $10,000 isn’t a ton of money and I was just trying to show that a little could go a long way.

Go fuck yourself, trollboy.

Good on you RAIDER! If everyone who has complained about these facilities would have done what you did, this would be a dead issue. OR is the facility money really being used for facility upgrade for athletes? I bet it get's used for everything but.
This is why we have to have fund raisers (donations) earmarked for specific upgrades...ie Locker rooms/weight room and meeting room.
Give a politician a $1, tell him to use it to do the most good and you see no improvement.
Give him a $1 and tell him to buy an apple and you've got an apple.

Why because I used the ugly comments they directed at me back at them? Where were you 2 pages ago when I was simply asking a question about donating money and the usual trolls jumped me and violated company policy with name calling shenanigans and personal attacks? People like you are part of the problem on here.

So what's above the weight room that's leaking? It isn't the roof, is it?

Yes. The walkway in the west entrance to the football stadium. That's why there's a covering/membrane on that area now

They didn't do any name calling and did 0 personal attacks. They insinuated that you were old and you threw a fit. Part of the problem is throwing the name calling back at them, perpetuating the problem. You asked if people could remain anonymous and received 3x the helpful responses that you did any joking ones.

I could tell that you were serious with your questions regarding contributing to the locker rooms and that is what the heart of this thread concerns. Raider then contributed to this conversation and then you acted the same way he did initially. I think you both have helpful things to say and actions for the Griz program and that's what it should be about.

Is it ironic that the ad at the bottom of the page is for Razoo, an on-line fundraising mechanism?

Wow, those are incredible. Roughly what was the cost?

To be honest, I didn't know the cost so I went to the USU fan board and posed the question. According to them the total cost was 12.5 million, and construction cost was just under 11 million for a 70,000 square foot building.

It is more than a lockerroom, there is a sports training facility, team meeting areas, coaches offies, athletic hall of fame, academic center, and coaches offices.

We already have a football indoor practice facility and are building a basketball practice facilty that will be named after Montana native Wayne Estes. That building will also be where the women's volleyball and gymnastics teams compete.

We are also building a state of the art weight training facility.

I just have noticed the last five or six years that UM's momentum seems to have slowed and USU's has increased, since I follow both programs pretty closely. I think it is because UM isn't making facility improvements like they once were; and USU seems to be annoucing something all the time now after 40 year of doing almost nothing. I worry that other Big Sky schools will overtake the Griz if they don't get back to making improvements in their facilities. The Griz, IMHO, need to really improve thier backend facilties, that the fans don't see, like lockerrooms, coaches offices, and athletic and academic training facilities. I also think that Griz should be looking at building a football indoor practice facility in the not to distant future. This is the one USU built in 1998: http://www.utahstateaggies.com/school-bio/ust-stanlaub.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When USU decided they finally wanted to win some football games they didn't start with the stadium and the things the fans experience and I think it has started to pay off. They took a strategy of building facilties that would attract and retain better coaches and players. The thinking was better players and coaches would lead to more wins and fan support and donations would follow.

UM in my opinion has a better looking stadium from what the fan would experience, and USU is just now thinking about improving seating, rest rooms, a press box and concessions. But from what coaches and players experience on a daily basis what USU has done far surpases what UM has. And they have only done that really, in the last 5 to 7 years.

I know that USU is FBS and UM is FCS, but I think UM could do just as well. Why? UM has more season ticket holders, has been winning longer, and only has some competition for support from MSU. While USU has been down a long time and has to compete with BYU (and a good share of the populations loyalties to that school whether or not they went there), Utah (Pac-12), the Jazz, Weber State and various other schools/ and teams. People in Montana also don't complain if big time opponents are visiting WA-Griz they are content with Big Sky and FCS competition so there is no need to pay visiting team big money to visit.

Sorry this is so long, and I hope I don't incur anyones internet wrath, just wanted to give my two cents. I care about the Griz and I don't want them to slide into mediocrity, but I fear they will if facilities improvements aren't made. Thank you.
