Local sports coverage

The Grizzlies had a scrimmage on Saturday morning and I did not see one bit of local coverage from the Missoula TV stations! Is anyone else besides me tired of seeing nothing but Bobcat updates and news on our local channels?

This is a complete anomaly. They normally cover the Griz soup to nuts. Like stink on shit. Like flies on rice. Bees to honey.

I am. I refuse to watch channel 13 in Missoula. Bozeman dominates the news and the Bobcats get all the sports coverage. I refuse to buy anything from Corwin Motors until they demand equal coverage as they are sponsoring the sports report on channels 17 and 23 as those stations reports are being dominated by cat news also.

Channel 8 has run a series on each position group for the Griz and I really appreciate it. It’s really the only news sports news that I’ve seen about the Grizzlies lately.

I didn't know San Antonio got the Missoula channels coverage. Who knew?

I thought it was a closed scrimmage to all fans and media, this year in particular has seemed to be heavy Bobcats by the local media when I say local the Missoula stations.

Practices and Scrimmages aren't closed unless they post/mention that - and they have people on site that'll talk to you about it if so. I think the one thing they don't want is someone taking video / live tweeting / streaming practices - but anyone is good to come watch almost anytime.

Media coverage, I've been to 5 practices so far. Colter Nuanez with Skyline has been at most. Shaun Rainey has been at all - and he usually gets good access for post-practice interviews. Kyle Hansen with KPAX has been at most as well. Frank Gogola with the Missoulian was at the first few, I've heard suggestion he may be done with football soon? Of course the challenge with the paper (as I'm told) is their deadline for next day reports is late afternoon or early evening, so in many cases they just don't get it there in time - or as evidenced by lack of attendance at practices, they just don't prioritize it.

I'd say stick with Skyline, KPAX, and ABC/Fox and you'll get as good as coverage as you can. There are the gogriz.com puff pieces too that many times are good background info and fun to read as well.

Agree on all. I think so many of these guys and gals now use social media like Facebook and Twitter to get a lot of their stories and interviews out. I’ve seen a lot through those channels as opposed to print. I actually thought the coverage has been pretty good.

I would highly highly recommend the “ inside the den” podcasts by Riley too. He does some awesome deep dives with both coaches and players.

There's an article in the Gazette today on the Bobcat special teams that chronicles all the highlights of last season but mysteriously leaves out the fake field goal debacle for a Griz touchdown and the classic debacle in the Chipper. Next time I golf with Worstell I'm going to chew on this Cat favoritism bone for 18 holes.

That's just sloppy. You have to include something to the effect of, "Of course, among the highlights, there were extremely notable lowlights. First, trailing Montana in Missoula, the Bobcats elected to attempt a fake field goal which was blown up from the snap by Griz players and returned for a touchdown to put the game out of reach and cement the Grizzly victory. Second, on the first drive of the National Championship game versus NDSU, the Bobcats again elected to run a fake FG from the 28-yard-line on fourth and two. This time, however, the Bobcat kicker inexplicably PUNTED the ball into the endzone for a touchback for a net of eight (8) yards. The 'FFGPTB' as it has since been known nationwide will truly go down as the single most hilarious intentional play in the history of the college game."
