I don't know much about Mick to be honest. Is this a good choice?
The Best, shoulda been made 2 years ago
He is exactly what we need right now. An old style coach from Butte that doesn't take any lip and leaves no doubt about who is in charge.

HUH? Noise? We need to get you a press pass.

So basically it was pointless. I think everyone knew Mick would get a deal.

Yeah, I have a fuzzy feel good feeling now :) I wonder, did they talking about still cleaning house on the other corrupt UM Admin? If the same system stays in place, not much will change.

That's cause the system isn't corrupt. Keep on thinking that though if it makes you feel better when we kick your ass November with a Freshman QB

Says who? It wasnt a done deal. I think a lot of people would agree that they would have offered him the position, if the team played well this season.. Im glad they made the move. It will provide more stabilty towards the program and our fans... :twocents:

You know, back in 86 the U hired a coach that some thought was beyond his prime. But he came in met with the players and made changes right away such as making new players live in the dorms, all Freshman or any player below a 2.5 GPA had to attend evening study sessions, etc. We had some pretty positive change from where the program was thanks to Don Read and his staff. Now he was facing some of the issues we have now, but there were issues that at the time seemed just as big.

Point being, I like this move and it gives the program something to hold on to if things get worse in the future and something to build on. I never have any regrets about going to the U, but Mike VanDeist was my recruiter and I just about changed my mind when I met Larry D! I think by giving Mick a contract, it makes going to Missoula a lot easier for any player to decide to attend.

I can only hope that the other things finish up, because guessing is the the worst. I would rather find out what needs to be done and get started then to sit in limbo at this point. Rather then fighting about who is to blame, we need to rally as fans of this University and move forward.

I thought it was fairly obvious they would. He's a good man with high morals. Hopefully he is a good hc too.

Guff to the Mic. 3 speakers, "this is a positive press conf".

Is it sad or what that Guffey has to lead off the press conference with "this is a positive press conference"

Anyways, good for Mick, i understand he is a stand up guy. Why never a head coach (exclusive of his 2-year stint at Western) does that even count? That's like the Yankees hiring me and saying i have head coaching experience by coaching a little league all star team.

I agree I think Delaney is the right guy for the job and a great hire by the Griz. I just think there is still some UM admin that needs some house cleaning done.

If a national search was conducted for coach, I wonder if Delaney would even throw his name in, or get much of a consideration if he did. However, in light of where UM is with things, this is the right move. So whether you think Royce has made good or bad decisions these last 6 months, he certainly did here. This is not a long term solution to the problem, but it definitely helps right the ship for the time being. Much like the hire of Read after the Hogan budget debacle.
