Also a big difference between betting a spread and predicting the score. Matt is far from a gambler or handicapper. The spread hasn’t moved a ton so I’ll say that the larger fanbase betting the spread and on the Griz.

There are guys on the JI team that understand betting/handicapping more, mainly Ben, Brendan, Chad and Alex. They’ll likely even do a pod this week regarding it.

I thought the MSU game earlier this season would be a blowout win for the Jacks, I was wrong. Then again they wore black uni’s and they seem to be cursed, doubt those make it to Frisco. I also thought the Albany semi final would be neck and neck, wrong again.

And this is where the “objectivity” thing enters in. Look, I can predict the GRIZ will win by 11,671. But I won’t bet that that they do. He’s predicting with his fandom. And that’s all fine and well. He’s a SDSU fan. Just don’t pretend to be objective at that point.

Objective: (of a person or their judgment) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.

I’ll admit it’s not fully objective in the definition of it. Matt has fandom and a “gut” feeling too. But there are several facts he considers in this. (No I am not Matt but am a fan and appreciative of what he’s created).

But like many Griz fans predicting a UM win it’s not objective either. We all let passion cloud some judgement.

Sagarin predictors list the Jacks as winners by 12.5-15.5. The 15.5 due to home team rating, although neutral site eliminates that.

I said most Jackrabbit fans will bet the spread which I believe sits at -13 for the Jacks.

Not a gambling man myself, but I’d give 21 points in a steak meal or a fine bottle of bourbon. 😁

I’ll take that bet. :thumb:

We can PM after the game to settle said wager. 👍

Of all the JI guys, Matt is usually the one that is predicting the closest game each week. I was very surprised reading his score prediction this morning.

Sagarin has been wrong on the Griz all year.

Even the NAU game? 😉

It’s statistically compiled. There are bound to be some anomalies, just like there are in real life game situations. That said, the Sagarin predictor rating are correct far more often than they are wrong.

Does sagarin take into account covid/flu? Asking for a friend…

But I thought it was because of the split qb? So the NAU loss was a Covid/flu thing?

Yet, you objectively site Saragin 🙄
Hello, im on a Griz board.
Griz shouldnt show up because our 1 title means we are going to kick the Griz's ass.
Your team aint worth anything cause we have all these supposed nfl draft picks and well, we won the chipper last year.

People and stats, this time of year humor the hell out of me.

I’m not objectively siting Sagarin. I added that as a point of reference but honestly Sagarin, while not a person per sé is a computer model without personal preference, it’s rather objective. .

That said I’m glad I could humor you, others and that it has relevance for you at least at this time year.

I thought we proved this in the 90's? A computer cannot be objective, subjective, yes.

Now, the asshole, on our board has me pulling out an encyclopedia, from the wall 😉

I’ve never said anything that points to Griz being nothing but deserving to be in Frisco. I don’t think I’ve referenced the title from last year, at least in the context that you’re meaning. Do the Jacks have nfl caliber talent, yes, it isn’t a secret to anyone following FCS football.

Bristle all you’d like, it doesn’t change anything I’ve laid out. Find one post of mine where I’m being serious and spouting nonsense.

Have team pride and confidence in the Griz, I get it. Guess I thought this was an open forum for banter. I’ll bow out and chat with any friendly maroon clad fans in Frisco.

Yes Covid/flu was an issue for some of the guys. Also coaches still tried the rotating QB nonsense. McDowell was designated “the man” after that game.

However, the actual reason the Griz lost at Flagstaff was they were playing awful. Simply put, countless mistakes and blown assignments. Really poor play by our kids while No Arizona was playing lights out. Great game by the Lumberjacks. They earned it.

I guess I always viewed Sagarin as a blind computation based on numbers, objective.

Objective data is numerical and can be measured and analyzed using statistical methods. Subjective data, on the other hand, refers to information that is based on personal opinions, interpretations, or feelings. It is not easily quantifiable and can vary from person to person.

Googling and rethinking my life choices of not dealing with numbers. I’m glad I stayed away. 🤣

I hope the entire world keeps piling against our team. Brings back so many memories of the herculean underdogs we were going against Marshall, in '95

#WeBelieve

We were the favorites by 7 points. We didn’t cover.

Marshall was 6.5 favorites in 1996.

A look into our rookie HC and his history with Montana. For context the UW-LaCrosse game referenced was a season opening loss in the mud to a D3 school. Forever known as the game that shall not be named.

Interesting facts here, almost like the 2 best teams are playing in Frisco.

And if you spin it the other way, the Jacks and Griz would be the only Top 25 teams without a loss to a top 25 team. Guess that’ll change Sunday. I love the FCS and the FCS playoffs.

One contender and one pretender. Sorry bunnies, you are going to get exposed as frauds.
Your entire stadium was built with money from a pedophile.
Put the hurt on Grizz, these people deserve it.
