By the way, I am relieved and happy our defense has been great enough to get us through these last few games. Wins are always good, no matter how they are accomplished.

Get a grip?! Are you serious? I take it you're satisfied with our offensive performance then? Personally, I'd like to think our coaches would do whatever it takes to get our offense together. Right now, we have no offensive identity and have shown absolutely zero ability to adapt or adjust to tough defenses. Yes, we won today, but if we keep performing like we did today it will undoubtedly lead to losses down the road.
No, not satisfied at all. The offense is not good, especially the o-line. But I don't like people who don't know what they're talking about, complaining about Delaney, the offense and the team. Today, the Griz had 7 predicted preseason starters on the offense not even on the trip, plus the punter. That doesn't include Harper. The Griz played without their star quarterback for more than half of the game. The defense was absolutely outstanding. Great stops, turnovers and a blocked FG. It was a great team win. Why is it so hard to appreciate a very nice team win?
Each game is a new one. The team and coaches have to figure out how to win each game. They are working hard. They are fighters. I'm proud of the team. Why is it so hard to appreciate and support the team?
The EWU and Cat defenses absolutely suck. Even the Griz O should be able to roll on them. Maybe the Griz o-line will get much better as the season goes on. Even if the o-line doesn't get good, I think the Griz D will will play those two offenses fairly well. The Griz just need to keep beating the other teams. Then, we'll see how they do against EWU and the Cats. I think UM will beat both of them.
PR, why couldn't you just respond like that to begin with, instead of your not so polite and jackassish (new word here) approach? Odd thing is, I honestly feel we are on the same page in what needs to improve. We only have a different attitude, approach, etc in how to deal with the team we have passion for.

As for the coaches and team, please pay an offensive guru to come evaluate our offense game film this year, and give our staff some advice of how improve our offense and the right kind of play calls. If we cannot spare the money, watch video of how MSU, EWU, and Sac State utilize the whole field sideline to sideline. No wonder their offenses are light years ahead of ours.
Speaking of watching games. I challenge every fan to watch as much video and other games as you can to see the difference in offensive strategy, and utilizing the middle of the field. You will see why the GRIZ struggle, and see what good offense is like. Seriously, how difficult is it to design game plans to utilize the middle 2/3's of the field more often? Other teams seem to get this concept well. Why can't our staff get it too???? Can someone please hammer these things into their thick skulls???????
Meanwhile, it is good to know we go into a bye week knowing our defense just needs to gradually keep improving. I honestly hope the defense work on implementing more nickel and dime packages. The offenses of EWU, Sac State, and MSU are damn good, and those defensive packages will surely help slow those teams down some.
I know I plan to watch as many Big Sky teams as I can next week. It always sucks when the GRIZ are off, but with all the injuries and inconsistent offense, the bye week is very much needed. Can our staff take advantage of the bye week to improve a bad offense? I sure hope so.

That's EIGHT planned starters missing all or most of the game today. How can you possibly judge the effectiveness of our offense when we're essentially down to the 2nd string--now including our quarterback?

Are injuries hampering the ability of our offense to get on track? Undoubtedly, but there's only so long you can place 100% of the blame on them for our offensive woes. Good coaches succeed in spite of injuries. They find a way to adapt and coach up their healthy players. We are nearly halfway through the season and this offensive line has shown very little improvement or ability to adapt in spite of their youth. They consistently fail to pick up blitzes and miss assignments. And beyond the first quarter of the NCU game, this offense has failed to be consistently effective even with JJ. Whenever we have gone up against anything resembling a good defense, we fail to adapt our game plan. For example, the commentators today (who were horrible by the way) spoke of how it was in ND's plan to force our run to game to the outside and use their defensive speed to make plays. With this in mind, do you think it would be smart to consistently try to run outside the tackles? I think not. Yet what did we do? We ran Canada and Van off tackle and to the outside for the better part of two and a half quarters, resulting in a negative total rushing yardage for the better part of the first half. Only later in the game, when we began to run more to the inside and their defense was wearing out did we find even marginal success in the run game. Also, how do you justify calling a late-developing run with Canada when we were backed up into our end zone and our run game to that point had been consistently getting zero to negative yardage? It doesn't take a coaching genius to see that could very well turn out bad! It took a miraculous effort by Canada to save us from a safety. This is just not smart offensive play calling.
And I could get into why this offense isn't set up to even remotely begin to take advantage of JJ's skill set, but that's another argument completely.

Also, Walcott (he played in front of Chase N as a frosh). Nguyen played today. Also, Harper, the projected TE starter after spring ball, quit. Also, not Shaw at punter. In the second half, UM had 1 receiver, the running backs and fullback, and 3 o-lineman, still on the field. Also, the 2d team tackle was not there.

What in the hell did I do to you? Can you honestly tell us, this offense does not have to seriously evaluate things? I am officially convinced, you not only wear maroon colored glasses, but you own the damn patent to them. :thumb:

IroneagleXP said:This. When you go against teams that roll on offense it doesn't really matter how good a defense is, they are still going to score a lot of points. Yes you will get some stops and force some punts, but to think that you would hold EWU, MSU, and even ISU to a level that your current offense could out score is quite a stretch. The Griz D is amazingly good. But there is no way in hell that these other teams don't score a shit ton of points, it's what they do.

Because you think you know enough to diss the coaches, and I don't think you know enough to do that. Occasional posts are fine, but I'm getting tired of your multiple posts acting like you know what you're talking about, because I don't think you know what you're talking about. You know more than many on egriz, but you don't know nearly as much as the Griz coaches do, nor are you at practice everyday. Don't know why a high school coach would be dissing college and UM coaches like you do sometimes.
It's not about how bad the defense is, its about how unproductive your offense is. All I'm saying is that after seeing all the griz games, all the EWU games, and most of the Cat games the advantage is most definitely to the other teams. And this isn't a troll post. If the griz can play offense like they should be then they would be making a deep playoff run IMO. BUT as it sits after 6 games....good luck with EWU and MSU.nzone said:IroneagleXP said:This.
