Learned some things about Griz, Root and EWU tonight

HannahO, I sincerely doubt the EWU family I sat with Saturday was "filling me with what I wanted to hear". He was initiating the convo about the Griz, our fans and the stadium. He said he has been to Wash-Griz 11 times. Why does it seem to bother you that a mature person (EWU fan) was having a civil conversation with Griz fans about the two programs? He also seemed very in tune with season ticket sales and what not at EWU, but his biggest point was, that in general, EWU fans don't care about EVERY GAME, every week, year after year after year like they do at Montana. He said he thought that was changing after the 2010 title and still hopes it will, just said it seems like it really hasn't. He was mostly referencing two things, overall attendance for the non-Griz or Bobcat games, as well as the lack of noise in the stadium.

As for the rest of my original post, not sure what your issue was, I was very complimentary of EWU fans and had a great time at the game.

In 2010 our first 2 playoff games (SEMO and NDSU) maybe had 3000 fans, it will be curious to see where we are at this year when we make the playoffs and the students are gone.

I'm too lazy to research this but I'm absolutely certain there were more than 3,000 fans at the North Dakota St playoff game. Hell there were 3,000 fans on the field after the game. Yeah it was a blizzard so that kept people from driving out from Spokane, but Roos was definitely more full than empty.

Reported attendance for NDSU was 4060, SEMO was 3600. Less than half full, and several hundred were NDSU fans. I was at both games and remember looking at how many open seats there were. We sat 40 yard line, about the 12th row and no one was anywhere close to us. I was a little off, but not much, and a good chunk of our fans left midway through the 4th quarter in the NDSU game. We will see if it improves this year, I sure hope it does...probably a conversation we should take to the EWU board

..."it will be curious to see where we are at this year when we make the playoffs and the students are gone."

Tough academic schedule there. Noticed in some other article that the students just arrived on campus for this game - late September, and they are already gone the first week of December??? (assume you didn't mean T-giving weekend as that is now the play-in weekend and the Eagles should dodge that round)

EWU is on the quarter system where Montana is on semesters. We may start late, but will also finish late (middle of june compared to middle of may). Technically the last day of the quarter is 12/14, but most instructors will have their final exams by 12/10 if not the week before. If we host a 2nd round game, students should be around campus then, after that...all bets are off...
