from 1909 to 1927 the griz rolled 16 straight over the cats. sadly....not the longest such streak.I'm sure griz fans were really letting us hear it in 1927.
didn't get much better for the cats over the next decade and a half with the griz taking another 12 of the 15 played.again....i'm sure the trash being spewed was major

the rivalry was halted for a while due to war but when it resumed sadly it was still bad for my beloved cats. we won a single game out of the next 10 played. griz ruled all. cats couldn't beat them. griz talked a ton of trash. all cat fans despised the griz...
the next 30 years is where things started getting fun. after 50 plus years of getting beat up the tides changed. the cats just owned the griz. from the mid 50's to the mid 80's the cats won 22 of 30 games. cat fans talked an abundance of shit, acted like we invented football, pretended we were better than everyone else, and griz fans hated us and our arrogant ways.
then the tide changed again. there was a new streak. one that lasted 17 games and really fueled the fire of an already very hot rivalry. not only did the griz have the cats number but they made a name for themselves across the country. fans came out of the woodwork. kids who were born in the 80's knew nothing different. they had no idea the cats had owned the rivalry for the last 30 years before their birth. as far as they were concerned the griz invented football. they were arrogant and cocky and had very short memories. they felt that for some reason the success on a football field by a team they supported for some reason made them smarter and better fans. cat fans hated the griz for this undying arrogance and the rivalry grew more bitter than ever before.
fast forward. finally the streak is broken. the cats finally beat the griz for the first time since the mid 80's. since that wonderful day the series has been more even than it has been since....well....ever. there has never been a 10+ year stretch where things were so even. 6 wins to 5 in favor of the cats over the last 11. go search the records. we have never witnessed this before. some can continue childish pissing matches. other will continue living in the past. I for one will sit back and witness one of the best, most even stretches this great rivalry has ever seen.

My thread has nothing to do with the cat-Griz rivalry.
Yeah its always a tough game no matter how good a team we field.
It is about the Griz and their quarter century run of dominance over the BigSky and FCS.
Show me an era were the cats possessed a comparable record of national dominance...
this isn't as good, but its comparable. the cats don't have the postseason trips, but there weren't as many postseason spots back then and the conference was much better with boise, nevada and idaho in it. they were clearly the best big sky team of that era and one of the better teams in the nation.
