Lady Griz vs. NAU

Starts pretty soon. Nothing is going to be easy the rest of this season, but certainly glad to see "unheralded" players making huge contributions! Really loving the bulldog toughness of Frohlich; she doesn't seem to get rattled even when surrounded by the other team's players. Here's to a health, fun, and a great shooting night!

Dang. 12 minutes into the game and we're shooting 13.5% (3 - 22) and 0 - 9 3-pt shots. Hope they start hitting pretty soon.

Bullshit call at the end. Never, never let the refs win the game and that’s exactly what happened. Total bullshit.

Game should have gone into overtime.
Meanwhile back in Msla the men are stinking up the gym, again. I’m really, really getting tired of Travis and Chris ball. I’ve supported Travis from day one but beginning to wonder.

Didn't watch the whole game but managed to see the last 10 minutes. There was definitely some home town love from the refs. Especially the bullshit call at the end. Sophia won that game

Got to hand it to NAU's designer ball in play, pass was executed to big by the basket w/mis-matched defender...lucky shot/foul. We played catch up in this game, could have had a better point spread if we had better shooting %. Inconsistent shooting is the pattern with this team.

Talked to a friend who has officiated at a few levels and he said that was a super stretch of the NCAA review rules. Not outside of the rules but definitely outside of the Standard Operating procedure. He said they are given training on what to specifically look for and make an attempt not to legislate the whole play. They went into the review trying to ensure she got the ball off in time, and the came out with a foul call. He felt that was a massive extension as to the spirit of the rule and what he believes is their training on how to conduct video reviews.

He said they were told over and over again that the purpose of review wasn't to insert officials into the outcome of the game. Rather to correct obvious errors and protect players. They didn't do last night with that review, and the Montana coaching staff probably had every reason to feel hard done by that. He said that it was just better to check that she got the shot off and move on to over time and let the teams settle it on the floor.

just thought I would relay that.

Watched the game.

We heard a whistle at the end of the call. That whistle would not have come at the buzzer but on a foul call (by the official standing in front of L. Payne and the other sideline official. 2/3 of the crew had that as a foul).

The most likely reviewed the shot getting off on time and if the foul was called prior to the buzzer as well. Either way that is a terrible way to lose a game. Gut punch for sure after Stiles hit what appeared to be another game winner.

This is our two cents.

Watching the game live....one of the officials did signal a foul on the play right away. I noticed and thought "no way" right then. Then the review seemed to take a long time. It was obvious the shot should count to tie the game. But then after the review both teams tromp to the FT line and NAU wins it. They didn't come up with foul during the review; they had already called it.

My take.....no way that's a foul and if so it's before and not during the shot. There was slight contact between both players with the ball in the air before the NAU girl even touched it. No way she was fouled in act of shooting.

How does the LG defender not stop the play (touch the ball!) with the ball coming in at about 7 feet? One of the most bizarre last second losses (0.4) after a last second win (0.8) was pretty much in the books. Surprised the Griz coaches didn't go ballistic over that foul call!

I agree, she has no hops, and the ball went right over her hands and NAU got lucky that the ball got over the rim. Ref needed to eat his whistle as it was little contact at best and that happened when she came down from jumping and turned her body. Poor officiating to call that
