Then I really don't know what he is complaining about. Just saying that coaches certainly have reasons why they don't have 3 or 4 corners on the field. It's tough to see who gets reps when your not at the games and can't watch from home

You are right it is hard to tell on a computer screen. We do play with 3 LB sets the majority of time. I think the Nelson rotates in a lot as the QB. Then again, maybe it is the other teams knowing when to go to their WR's. It seems to me, we are in our base package quite a bit more often in past years, before Gregorak.

We play 3 backers 95% of the time, I go to the games with Geddes and that is one thing we look for. We notice and one of us will be amazed and say, "hey, a nickel package". Doesn't happen very often, mostly for one or two plays to give a backer a blow. Love JP, our hardest hitter but he is not good in coverage and hasn't been all year, yet they continually leave him in mismatches...it's pretty head scratching at times, particularly against the steady diet of 4 wides we have seen.

I'd say we need to see what Gamboa, Lebsock and Van Ackeren as hybrid safety/lb guys can do. Why not, the status quo isn't that riveting.

Noticed a bit more Addison Owen out there on Saturday too...maybe because Van Ackeren was hurt...

I see I messed up my typing. I meant in the prior post. I think Nelson rotates a lot at CB. I typed QB, surprised that did not start the trash talking and ruining of a thread. Good job keeping it to football all. I just hope the offensive coaches keep things open. I pray Gregorak and the defensive side will follow suit. I really don't like TG's schemes. Just my opinion though. That is it. :thumb:

One thing I do know..... Gregorak is losing sleep over his defense and their play the last couple of weeks so we can only hope something positive comes out of it. I think he's truly embarrassed with the D's play of late.

That is encouraging. By listening to him being interviewed. He really sounds sincere, and holding himself accountable. I like Ty, just very disappointed in the defense under him. By listening to him, he sounds like he wants to and is trying hard to make his defense better. I do think it would help more to lessen the pass coverage burdens on the LBS though. We need better pass coverage personnel out there in passing situations. Gamboa, Lebsock, Vanackern (before injury), or more nickle coverage come to mind for me.

As hard as I am on Ty for his schemes, I want him to succeed, and advance his career. I like what he brings to the team for chemistry and attitude. :thumb:

I guess I have to defer to the coach on this... He obviously isn't oblivious to the nickle and dime packages... So it has to be personnel... We must.... at least according to Gregorak be better with our LB's out there most of the time.
Scheme wise I totally agree with you "griz rule"...... It must not be... at least within our current environment...... a coachable choice.

Exactly what I'm saying.

I am having trouble buying that giving up 400 plus yards passing is being done with our best players unless it is the scheme that is to blame. The only thing that is offsetting our dismal pass defense is our +16 turnover advantage. We ran our base defense constantly with LB's dropping in coverage with little variation. It has worked well for the other team. Without the turnovers, we lose.
