PR, that is your best and most logical post ever. We agree on this one. :thumb:

All of my posts are my best and logical. Ha. Thx.
even a broken clock is right twice a day. :thumb:

You can jump PR for many things but he has been on the right side of this issue since the beginning. In particular, his "unflinching" defense of Pflu and O'Day has been admirable IMO.
His legal commentary has been "nails".
nice opinion. i disagree.

I agree, Player Rep has been spot on correct on this matter, and his post above is brilliant. If only Engstrom had half the judgement and understanding displayed by PR. If only.....

i tend to base my predictions of the future in large part on past events.
So that would explain why you thought Walcott would be a no. 2 WR, right?
yep. he'd been a 2 as in working with the 2s, which is football jargon for a second stringer. had you followed that thread more thoroughly (done your research) you wouldn't have had to ask.
Actually i think i followed it fine but I'm not sure you're following me. Anyway, I just feel privileged to learn where you "had" him. I treat all opinions from bobcat fans the same.

I hope the parents of prospective students read this book, along with seeing the time magazine feature and the informative episode of 60 minutes sports. UM is straight trash and is getting the bad press and reputation that it deserves. You guys are such a bad joke and the only ones laughing are you. Can't wait for Stitt to shit down his legs come September, that will really be the cherry on top of the epic failure that is UM. Forget the past, UM will always have a black cloud looming overhead. Suck it griz fans. SUCK IT. :)

Furthermore, I do believe I will purchase multiple copies and leave them random places for people to find. Yes indeed, a fantastic idea!

1) Nobody can read at the "random places" you frequent

2) Your mom doesn't have that much money to loan you

Now go change the fryer grease.

How is being a ducks fan treating you these days?

So our university president has made a point of saying that no one at the university was interviewed for this book. My question: Did Krakaeur ask?

If he did, and was refused, I wouldn't be shocked. I will be surprised, though, if a seasoned author didn't at least make an effort.

Based on past performance, my guess is that the U heard about the book, shit down its leg, talked to its lawyers, refused the request and hoped it would go away. That past performance sounds like the MO of the current campus administration and hasn't exactly served the university well in regards to this situation.

I guess we will find out.

Engstrom said, in an interview yesterday, that neither Krakauer nor anyone connected with him contacted or talked to any UM official. I didn't think Engstrom would be that sneaky and misleading, as you surmised above, and it turns out that he wasn't.

Glad to hear that. Weird that Krakaeur didn't at least try to get that interview. Doesn't bode well for two sides being told.

"Objective" reporting would mandate at least making the effort.

Of course, notably, that is precisely the problem that sunk the recent Rolling Stone article on campus rapes. The fake victim had asked the reporter to not contact the fake perpetrator, and, in every violation of journalistic integrity, the reporter agreed not to attempt to get the other side of the story.

It is difficult to imagine how gullible a reporter would have to be to agree not to seek independent sourcing after being told, "gee, I'd really like it if you didn't try and verify anything I'm telling you." Red flags don't get much bigger, Red lights don't get much brighter, and shrieking sirens don't get much louder.

I too am assuming that Engstrom is telling the truth here, since the alternative would too easily blow up on him. I am giving him a great deal of the benefit of the doubt on that point, however. But, arguendo, that it is true and Krakauer did not approach UM for comment, when a writer consciously sets out to take the same approach as the Rolling Stone writer, it is a sure fire guarantee he has a story so good to tell that he did not want anything to interfere with it. Like truth.

I guess we will see April 21.

Below is a link to a recent Kaimin article. The interview I heard this morning had more detail, and made it clear that no one at UM had been contacted. I don't know the JJ lawyers or Van Valkenberg or the Missoula police were contacted either, but don't know directly from any of them.

I have 2 problems with this book, from what I know so far. (1) The U of M officials not being interviewed to help the public see the other side. (2) The book being centered around a player/man who was found "not guilty". I feel JJ should not be the center point of this book, or even part of it, unless Krakaeur will make it clear to the public that JJ's case did not even have enough evidence to go to trial. It would be fairer if the book could get the readers an idea that JJ could be considered as a victim of the system as well.

Another article this morning... it does not appear anyone was interviewed for this book. Not sure where Krakauer is getting his "sources with direct information" as none of the main players involved in JJs case have been contacted.
