The fact is, certain people want to exploit a generic ambiguity in the criminal justice system to overcome the clear meaning of this trial, in this instance, with this athlete, for which anyone who listened to the trial testimony, including the jurors, knew exactly what the outcome meant. This is meant to support their inherent bias, and an apparent ongoing bitterness that an injustice was not committed.
The trial means just as much to me as it does to you. I'm just as satisfied with the verdict as you or anyone is. Having served on a jury in a criminal trial I also have a good understanding of how verdicts are reached.

What I'm not satisfied with (and I've stated this numerous times) is the desire of some to use a verdict as a be-all, end-all that separates fact from opinion (be it strong or weak) and creates an absolute, undeniable truth. Once those people accept this quite simple certainty, I'll gladly move along.
Additionally, I've never said JJ should've been found guilty or that the girl didn't make a false accusation. All Ive ever done is be honest with myself and accept, as i do with anything that isn't proven, that I don't know for sure what happened.

Let me see if I understand this:

If everyone on this board admits that we have no way of knowing for sure what happened between JJ and the accuser, you will drop the crusade and constant tirades about the legal troubles of the football team and FINALLY move on. Did I hear that correctly?

Or, will you simply drop the banter on this thread and move on another subject of player trouble that you can obsesses over?
Pushing to the side your poor diplomatic skills, YES! I'd be ecstatic if everyone agreed with what I've been saying for nearly two years. I actually think everyone already does, but they can't bring themselves to admit it for whatever reasons. Nothing ive said is incorrect and it's very easy to understand. Which is, we only know what we know and we don't know what we don't know.

Soooo, the answer is no then? Gotcha.

No, I said YES! (All caps with an exclamation point). I'll leave it to you to police the board when I'm attacked for my indisputably correct stand on this. All everyone has to do is abide by the conditions you set forth above.

gg and all, see below. As recently as a year ago, you were still linking the below stories (I still can't believe you keep links like this), and claiming that 40 players had been "charged" (completely untrue and not accurate). In addition, you were linking JJ's arrest (even tho he had been acquitted) and linking Wilson's arrest (even tho he had been acquitted). Also, listing links to matters in which players had not even been charged ever (sexual assault and Johnson/Swink). Listing links to matters in which the charges had been dropped or significantly reduced. Listing links to matters of team discipline, which didn't even criminal matters or any charges (in fact, some were things like being late to meetings). Referring to matters that occurred before players came to MT.

You refuse to recognize the facts that came out in the JJ case, even tho many are undisputed. When, to your disappointment, JJ was acquitted and allowed to remain in school and play on the team, you then reverted to your nonsense mantras that not guilty doesn't mean innocent and nobody who wasn't there can know what really happened. Jeez, if no one was allowed to make judgments or have an opinion on anything they didn't observe, most people could not make a judgement or have an opinion on virtually anything that has ever happened or does happen in the world.

You really are obsessed with this stuff. You constantly misrepresent and lie about. As others have said, I think you're sick, and quite odd.

Typical of your misinformation. You said there were 40 players "charged" in the prior 4 years. No way that's even close to being right. Much of the top of your list was were Delaney. No player or coach was charged for breaking a window downtown. The coach wasn't even there at the time. Being suspended for a game for violating team rules is not the same as being charged with a crime (JPK and Holt). JJ was acquitted; false charge. False reports resulting in no charges are not "charges" of a crime. Jeez, you are really something else, trying to say that a false report or an offhand remark in a newspaper article is the same as being charged with a crime. Yes, some DUI arrests, a number of which were dropped or plead to a minor/lessor charge. Yes, the burlgarly was bad news. Yes, the 3 frosh fight/punches were too bad, but eventually the charges were reduced to misdemeanors for those who hadn't already plead.

40 "charges" in that prior 4 year period is total BS. You are completely dishonest. And bringing up stuff before someone was a UM player and even in Montana is totally ridiculous.

actually this is typical of your misinformation. first, i didn't say 40 "charges" i said 40 "player incidents" (actually there were more than 40, but i just ballparked it). second, i see you deleted that part of conversation. nice try, not really.

j.j.'s charge was not proven to be true or false. the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt lies on the accuser and in this case she didn't provide enough proof in the eyes of a jury and they rendered a not guility verdict, which does not state that the charge was false. you're a lawyer, a dartmouth grad no less, and you don't understand that? only j.j. and her accuser will know for sure what happened, while the rest of us can only have an opinion. the only thing that not guilty means with any certainty is that the defendant isn't going to jail.

it isn't ridiculous to bring up charges brought prior to being here, because it reinforces the win-at-all-cost mentality that was prevalent during that time. mick has no such mentality, which is one of the things that makes him a good coach and one we needed during this time. that is one of the things that makes him a candidate for coach of the year honors. perhaps that isn't something you picked up on?

grizzy,

Your obsession with this subject, (I.e. eagerness to look up and post all these links) speaks volumes as well. You might be as bad as those with whom you debate........

Think about it.

j.j.'s charge was not proven to be true or false. the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt lies on the accuser and in this case she didn't provide enough proof in the eyes of a jury and they rendered a not guility verdict, which does not state that the charge was false. you're a lawyer, a dartmouth grad no less, and you don't understand that? only j.j. and her accuser will know for sure what happened, while the rest of us can only have an opinion. the only thing that not guilty means with any certainty is that the defendant isn't going to jail.

it isn't ridiculous to bring up charges brought prior to being here, because it reinforces the win-at-all-cost mentality that was prevalent during that time. mick has no such mentality, which is one of the things that makes him a good coach and one we needed during this time. that is one of the things that makes him a candidate for coach of the year honors. perhaps that isn't something you picked up on?

I was waiting for raider to police rep, but doesn't look like he's gonna do it.
Thanks for posting my response and this list, rep. I had inadvertently deleted it from my computer and couldn't find it in here. My response within the above is key to what I've been saying all along.
The list is great in that it shows the improvement from when Delaney took over. Further reinforcing my facts and opinions.

gg and all, see below.

This list also serves as great reminder of how bad things used to be. Congrats and thank yous go out to coach delaney, mr. Engstrom and mr. Haslam without whom none of this could've been rectified so well.

It's great to post this from time to time as those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Thanks playerrep!! :thumb:

Wouldn't be so sure about that. The posting of book excerpts, reviews & legal briefs to follow. Wish we had this kind of passion around football.

Yes, congrats to Delaney, Haslam and Engstrom. Of course, note that Delaney started in 2012, and the first 12 links on gg's list are in 2012, 2013 and 2014. I can think of 3 other publicized matters during that time that are not on your list. Also, note Florio and the Missoulian eventually quit putting everything in the Missoulian, up front, during this period too. While some other stuff has occurred, at least the Missoulian and gg didn't find out about it or print it.

Prior to 2012, and excluding the burglarly (bad) and frosh fighting/punching matter (sort of bad, altho all but the guy who plead early got charges dropped to misdemeanors), everything else that ended up with pleas or went to trial, were dui's, disorderly conducts (or the equivalent). The others all were matters not charged, and a few charges dropped.

As I've said many times, if the burglarly, fight/punching and Donaldson matters, which were bad, are excluded, all of the other stuff that went anywhere were dui's, disorderly conducts and other similar minor stuff. Too much of that stuff, and I hope things really are improved in that regard, but much of the "problem" resulted from the Missoulian and people like gg over-stating and overplaying them and repeating them--and the huge bad press from the Wilson and JJ matters, and the initial incorrect reports from the Tru/Kemp matter.

First of all, who made you the Hall Monitor of people's opinions?

Second of all, you sound like the creature that Franz Kafka created in "The Burrow," a creature of paranoid, smug complacency, trying to protect his own opinions with walls of mud.

So now we're arguing about how many arrests are too many??

Can we all just agree that there were too many, be glad that that problem is now behind us, and move the eff on?

Believe me, this is what 98% of eGriz wants to do, and it's what 99.9999997% of Griz Nation wants to do.

Excellent post.

GG, yes you are right, the only people who know what went on that night are JJ and the accuser. So why do you excessively make points beyond that? There is no need to do so. The only thing that can change my opinion of this case is if later new evidence is found proving guilt 100%, JJ admits to getting away with it, or he later commits a similar crime.

In this situation, I doubt any of those things will happen. I know JJ and would be very surprised if he ever did what he was accused of doing.

Can you please let your obsession with this trial and outcome rest, and put it behind you? We all see that you are having trouble accepting or believing the outcome for whatever reasons. I am sure both JJ and the accuser will both admit, they made a mistake and had bad judgement that night. That is pretty typical of young adults.

I honestly don't understand why this case has to be rehashed over and over!!!
