I largely agree with this. They were just no match for the ducks at any position. What suprised me a little was how slow their LB's looked. But I still think the bobcats will be near the top of the BSC this year. The thing I noticed is that the Bobs didn’t really play that bad for them. They had that one play to #14 that worked three times. They were just so much worse at every single position than Oregon. Like, not a little bit worse. Much worse. Not much you can do in that situation, so I’m sure they took the fact that they scored a TD as a huge moral W. Just like Bozeman HS wouldn’t be very good against the Bobs, but would be jazzed to get the chance to play them and score a TD.
Didn't know he was from Missoula. We need a guy named "missoulagriz" to give us city statistics and brief bios of anyone playing on any team if they are from Missoula. Don't you have a cousin in Missoula that can help?Did you know he's from Missoula ? The radio crew made sure to emphasize that on their call--they're probably a little butt hurt after today's Autzen beat down. : ( !!!
Can’t wait to hear the excuses after they go 0-2 to start the season
The Cat starters scored a TD against Oregon’s third string defense….:yep time to celebrate that colossal feat. The thing I noticed is that the Bobs didn’t really play that bad for them. Here is my offer to all you expert football analysts on here. I'll take the cats against the jackrabbits this Saturday or the cats against the griz later this year for $1k. This offer is good through next Friday night. PM me to arrange it.

Not betting you, SJ, but I think MSU is at best a # 5-10 FCS teams this year and maybe a Top 3 or 4 team BSC for reasons explained earlier: graduation and too many talented transfers out. Other than Lamson and Dowler, your team looked slow and not very physical today, unable to block, shed blocks, tackle, etc. Plus, I think leaving Eugene, MSU is going to be a little to moderately beat up--I am really curious to see your team injury report, if Coach Vigen releases one
While I don't see the wheels falling completely off the SK bus, I think 9-3, 8-4 more realistically would be a good year for a rebuilding MSU team !!!
Will it though? SDSU is still unknown at this point.Next week they have S Dakota State at Home... Real questions will be answered
Yeah, once the Oregon players on the field were actually on the same planet as the Bobplayers, they were able to cross the goal line. That should count for something. They couldn’t realistically expect to do anything against the Oregon starters. The Cat starters scored a TD against Oregon’s third string defense….:yep time to celebrate that colossal feat.
The Shi__y KittiesLet's not forget that Oregon is a professional team and the Bobcats are a college team.
Haha fair enough. I assumed they'd drop off from last year, but based on that result I wouldn't consider MSU to be a national title contender. The Shi__y Kittiesat times today resembled a bad Mont. high-school team !!!
I didn't think MSU would win, but lose by less than 30, maybe--best-case scenario--lose by low double digits like Idaho v. Oregon, 24-14 one year ago.
I watched a lot of the top teams in FCS today play, and I gotta say I don't think we know anything about who's gonna round into championship form just yet.Haha fair enough. I assumed they'd drop off from last year, but based on that result I wouldn't consider MSU to be a national title contender.
Putting the score aside, even NDSU had issues. If they'd have been playing a team with a pulse that game would have looked a bit different. I'm not so sure they're the juggernaut they've been in the past, at least not yet. We shall see.I watched a lot of the top teams in FCS today play, and I gotta say I don't think we know anything about who's gonna round into championship form just yet.
NDSU was probably the only team that looked like they haven't really missed a beat.
SDSU was sloppy as hell, MSU played maybe one of the best CFB teams in the country (and looked...meh? I dunno, how can you even tell?), USD got boat raced by the ISU team that barely beat the Kansas State team that UND nearly beat, UIW are frauds, UC Davis were frauds in the first half before turning it around, and the list goes on.
Some of the teams that showed out today might lose 4-5 games this year, and I bet a couple that we all thought looked horrible do really well.
Who knows, it might be another one of those seasons where NDSU is just way better than everyone else.
Hoping the massive changes we made will get us up to their level this season, though.
I think overall it's hard to tell about teams in first games. There are always lots of mistakes. Yes, Idaho made a good showing at Oregon last year and expectations were then really high for them. But, then went on to have just an okay season.Putting the score aside, even NDSU had issues. If they'd have been playing a team with a pulse that game would have looked a bit different. I think your post touches on a bigger point about the different levels within any sport. Consistency is often what separates average from good from great. For that reason, inherent at the top of FCS football is less consistency than we see at the top of the FBS, and the same from FBS to NFL, etc. I’m not saying it’s ever set in stone at any level, but one can be more certain about what team will show up at the top of the FBS than he can when assessing the top of the FCS. In short, players and teams are less consistent in the FCS.I watched a lot of the top teams in FCS today play, and I gotta say I don't think we know anything about who's gonna round into championship form just yet.
