keys to beating weber

As has been posted already in this thread, it comes down to Weber State's superior inside game versus our superior guard play. I'm biased towards superior guard play. If our bigs can hold their own and play respectably, I think we will win. I look for Spencer Coleman to break out. He may be the key for us.

But Weber is damn good, and Bamforth is due. If he starts draining threes, look out, that will tip the balance in their favor.

griz have had about 20 dunks in there last few games. how many have wildcats done?? that's right. ZERO. and these dweeber fans talk up they shit team like they can even hang with the griz on thurs. when one teams punchin the ball and the other one goes to the rack like a bunch of pussies guess who gona win? don't take a madden type genuis to figure that out. this game wont even be close son. griz dominate something like 52 - 48. and yall wildcat fans can look for me at the game. ima be the one doin a victory stomp on yo logo with the griz

Going to be hard to get much work done today. Counting down the minutes to tipoff. My pick - Weber 68 UM 63.
yup, work is definitely going to suffer today. My pick - Griz 71 weebs 70 OT

The Missoulian had an interesting fact in today's paper. The last time the Griz won a regular season in game at Weber was 2004, with Tinkle in charge. Kennedy was the head coach, but was suspended for the game for criticizing officials the week before

1. enjoy the setting. sharp opponent, great venue, rabid knoweledgable fans, traditional rivalry--big sky basketball does not get any better this. no matter the outcome, a game our kids will remember a lifetime.
2. be aware, but not jacked up. remember the niners? harbaugh had them so hyper they looked like rattlesnakes on amphetatmines. took a power outage before they calmed down and settled into their game. so: the right attitude. zen mindfulness, not the niners.
3. avoid early foul trouble. (kareem, you listening?) early benching for either jamar or cherry will be a dagger. both? fatal. remember: weber fans have not forgotten the "foul" on cherry when he tied up lillard in the championship game in ogden three years ago. the refs may not either.
4. somebody other than the big three--step up! hutch? deshields (a la portland state?) gregory? coleman? if we win, it will be because one of these guys delivered, big time.
5. no "lady-griz" arctic freeze shooting syndrome. and no zombie lapses on defense. it will take full concentration every minute for two full halves to pull this one out. (oh, and kareem: two halves please.)

should be fun!

1. guess you won't forget that setting, eh mr. custer?
2. weber looked like rattlesnakes on amphetamines.
3. okay, we avoided early foul trouble--if you don't count early second half, when kareem took himself out of the game with fouls.
4. didn't happen. not only was the "big three" the "big one a and a half" (cherry two havles, ward one), nobody else stepped up to fill the void, while weber got 14 points from one guy off the bench.
5. oops, we did hit the "lady griz" arctic freeze stretch. Five scoreless minutes in the first half where we went from four down to fourteen down, ball game. oh, and kareem? no halves!

should be fun? that's your idea of fun?

Each yr that passes I wonder if rahe or tinx leave. Each yr im glad we have them and we are lucky.

Agreed....as for game outcome, I think it will be won in the paint and on the line. Weber has the edge underneath....so expect a close cat win 74-69

Tough to go on the road for five games and wsu is our biggest challenge...should be a heck of a game

Need to "self correct". ....weber did not have an edge underneath, they owned the paint. Losing did not surprise but our lack of sowing up, I.e. another sluggish start is not good trend

And yet somehow the Griz have found a way to win 7 of the last 9 meetings.

I'd say webs should be favored. But 6 points (and wtf is the deal w the .8? Never seen that before)?? There's some money to be made here!!

Wayne Tinkler has NEVER won a regular season game @ WSU. Weber rolls. I'm looking forward to this one.
WeberSki (or whatever name you're using these days), I'm not as confident as you. While I think Weber wins this one, I certainly don't think they "roll". The Griz are too good to get beaten badly.

Just remember SWeber they were a much deeper team with Qvale, Selvig, & Steward. This Fizzly Grizzly team lacks any sort of inside presence. Weber won by 16 the last 2 years. WEBER ROLLS... I'm a little nervous though. Will Cherry (pedicure boy) says "it's on"

+1

FWIW, Purple doesn't have the greatest track record in predicting weber "roll" victories. In fact, I believe he's about Oh-fer his last 4.

And saying that Wayne has never won in Ogden may be true. And yet he still has Rahe's number.

Keep on trollin' though. Eventually you'll type something that makes sense.

What didn't make sense? You & Keena seem to be MIA all of a sudden

Well, I'm a UM grad, so I have a career. We don't necessarily get regular breaks like you do at Burger King.

Yep, that was an ass-whoopin. You got one right. Gonna predict another for the 3rd game next month in Missoula?

If UM plays a few more games like they did last night the only prediction I will be making is Tinks and crew will be watching the Championship game from home.

That is a big IF. Weber has a legit home-crowd atmosphere, as well as a talented team, and it such a rarity in our league that it can rattle teams, even talented teams. Montana use to have this advantage, and still occasionally does. Start booking your hotel rooms for Missoula for the BSC tourney (IF you are such a die-hard) or keep praying.

Yep. Neither team will beat the other on their own floor. Weebs still needs help, and has to pray that the Griz lay another egg.

It's still, even after that shitty game yesterday, a good position for the Griz.

Go Griz!!

The sky is really bad this yr overall, the worst I have ever seen. To expect one of these bums to help out weber is a joke. I give griz 90% chance to win out. I plan for it to be in missoula but hope for ogden of course. I think with the new tournament weber has a shot at 11,000 crwd if it could be in ogden.

Whoever wins the Big Sky tourney, and i expect it will be Weber, they will be a 15 seed...an upset of either UM or WSU would probably be in the play in.....this is a very weak conference. Maybe, we can be surprised in the Bracket Buster games, but I highly doubt that...not sure who Weber is playing but Davidson is the real deal...
