Anyone want to know what kind of policy Tinkle has on drinking if you want to be on the team? What about some of the other elite teams like Duke for instance. Would seem to me they wouldn't allow it and that would help in their producing stellar teams.
Only thing is, we arent a normal team anymore because of all the other problems in Missoula and UM? The rules probably got alot more strict this year

Apparently not!! I see where Tinkle is suiting him up this week... So much for UM Athletics cleaning up their act!! I guess the "win streak" is just too darned important!!

Lets hope this lack of setting an example does not lead to the next drinking fatality on the campus!

Hyperbolize much?

Of course you are right... how in the world could condoning underage drunk driving possibly hurt anyone!! Silly me!!

Seems to me that there is a marked difference between condoning the act -- which I have not seen from anyone, and certainly not from UM Administration or the coaching staff -- and raising the level of it to the point of requiring the player's removal from the program, as you seem to suggest.

But my hunch is that you already know that, and you're just trying to troll.

Gezzz - Hyperbolize much?
Please show me where I EVER suggested that he be removed from the team...
Listen
He is a MINOR
HE is a MINOR who was DRINKING
He is a MINOR who was DRINKING and DRIVING
He is a MINOR who was DRINKING and DRIVING on CAMPUS
He is a MINOR who was DRINKING and DRIVING on Campus during the SEASON
He is a MINOR who was DRINKING and DRIVING during the SEASON on CAMPUS at a time when UM can ill-afford more bad publicity....

Certainly Tinkle COULD have used this unfortunate instance as an opportunity to show that UM Athletics are indeed at least trying to turn the ship around by imposing more than the obligatory minimum slap on the wrist, but he chose not to.... His actions speak volumes, unfortunately those actions appear to mimic years past that got UM Athletics in the mess they are in now.....

You never had a glass of wine under the age of 21 or a single beer? As was said earlier, to blow a .02 it could have been something as simple as 1 glass of wine at dinner, or a single beer with friends. No need to turn this into something bigger than it was. He was suspended 2 games for this, and I'm confident that it sent the right message suspending him for 2 games. To a player busting his ass for more playing time being suspended like this for a couple games would be pretty damn awful.

Shit, in my opinion the drinking age should be lowered to 18. If you are old enough to go fight in a war for your country you should be considered old enough to have a beer.

So I'm curious, you keep stating that Tinkle should have done more... yet you offer up no opinion on what he should have done. What do you think he should have done? Be specific here, none of this "he should have done more" bullshit.

Yes - I had several glasses of wine when I was under the age of 21.. but the drinking age was 18 and I was not on scholarship with UM!! He blew far greater than a .02 but YOU and I do not know what that magic number is YET....

You are confident that the minimum obligatory slap on the wrist "sent the right message"... sent the "right message" to who?? Did Henderson "get the message" when Poole got busted? Did he "get the message" when Donaldson was jailed?. Did he "get the message" when TJ and Kemp found trouble?? The simple answer is NO because if he had, and IF the message was CLEAR back then, then he would not be out drinking and driving on campus as a minor during the season.... SO APPARENTLY THE MESSAGE IS NOT BEING HEARD!!!

What would I have done?... after ALL of the trouble that UM Athletics has seen in the past 3 years it is VERY CLEAR that the minimum obligatory slap on the wrist is not deterring anyone. Double the minimum obligatory slap on the wrist and see if that helps....

Amen, old enough to serve your nation, old enough to drink.

How many of you actually watch player interaction and attitudes during games? I ask because Wayne is a very much a coach that decides things a lot on attitude, on the court, on the bench, and an away from the game. I always watch for bench/player interaction at any game I attend in person, or watch on online/tv. Henderson is always encouraging his teammates, and giving positive encouragement. He has from day 1 of his arrival.

His attitude and interaction during his suspension was no less than normal, and he was not sulking. That says a lot to me , and even more to his coaches and teammates. It looks to me owned up to his mistake, and life now goes on.

Welcome back Mr Henderson.

All good solid points however, the question is, did his mistake and resultant discipline deter others from making the same mistake in the future??.... Clearly the answer is NO.... again, I just hope the next UM Athlete who gets a "baby DUI" while driving on campus does not have Vehicular Homicide added to it!!

a better question to ask did his mistake and resultant discipline deter HIM from making the same mistake in the future? I would argue that Tinks has Henderson's complete and undivided attention on this matter.

One or more of the following
depending on nature of offense:

Sanctions for Category I, II, and III violations shall follow the schedule above, with the following

order to determine which offense (first, second, etc.) has been committed. Category
I violations are not subject to any rolling period of time and are always acted upon.
 For multi‐sport student‐athletes, sanctions will be imposed during the season in
which the offense occurs or in the immediately next sport season if the offense
occurs out of season.
 The withholding of information in an attempt to evade punishment under this

 Nothing in this code shall be construed to prevent the University and the
Department of Athletics from imposing disciplinary proceedings pending final

Jesus  What should his punishment have been then? Expulsion? Public tar and feathering? 10 years in jail? Siberian work camp?

Again...let us know what you think his punishment should have been?

Geez numbnuts, I guess if you had read my post you would have seen HE DID get double the minimum with a 2 game suspension(minimum being 1 day in case math is difficult for you). So I guess you're done here since he ALREADY got what you wanted.

WOW - does it hurt to be so friggen stupid?? Drinking when a MINOR is one Cat II offense... DUI is a second thus the 2 game suspension... or is that math too hard for you??? numbnuts indeed... try to keep up s@!T for brains.....

Again - apparently nobody is getting the so called "message"... try increasing the penalty to see if the "message" can become clearer....

 Nothing in this code shall be construed to prevent the University and the
Department of Athletics from imposing disciplinary proceedings pending final
adjudication in a court of law.

WOW - they taught you how to cut and paste at your school??.. good for you Junior!! Now count with me...(take off your shoes if you have to)

Under Age Drinking = 1 st offense
DUI = 2nd offense...
HE should have been seated for 30% of the scheduled contests...

That's OK spike... I had trouble counting to 2 as well... but by then I already had my 2nd birthday....
