Kevin Henderson DUI

I 100% guarantee they still book you in jail for a dui....campus or not.

No doubt but I would imagine the Msla police do their own investigation (sobriety tests) after being called out by the campus police before making an arrest. The report did say "arrested". Not sure if the campus police can arrest or just detain someone. Perhaps we will all know as soon as the Kaimin reporter gets out of his chemistry lab class?

University Police Officers are sworn peace officers in the state of Montana and have the same powers of arrest and citation as Missoula/Bozeman/Billings PD (I use these three because they are the three with UPD's) or the county Sheriff"s office. I know, i am one. As far as arrest for a DUI, a citation (Notice to Appear) in the state of MT IS a form of arrest. A person may be taken to the Jail for the DUI processing, cited and then released to his or her family or friends without formal booking into the county jail.

Arrested for "baby dui". (Underage and above .02) http://www.kpax.com/news/griz-basketball-player-arrested-for-baby-dui--75654/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the info JFK! You wouldn't happen to know what the statute of limitations is for doing doughnuts on the campus oval in a Jeep at 3:30 am?

So....driving not under influence?

underage drinking and drving only has to be .02 and not .08. They are not saying how much above .02 he was.

Very crappy news.. WTF Hendo! Not good, it took Chavy a very long time to see the court again for Tinks when he got his.

Anyone know what kind of policy Tinkle has on drinking if you want to be on the team? What about some of the other elite teams like Duke for instance. Would seem to me they wouldn't allow it and that would help in their producing stellar teams.

Only thing is, we arent a normal team anymore because of all the other problems in Missoula and UM? The rules probably got alot more strict this year

They should be strict if we want to build towards being an elite program.

If you think players at places like Duke, UCLA, North Carolina, and Kentucky don't drink you are living in la la land. JJ Redick was one of the biggest partiers in the whole school when he was at Duke. Remember him blowing like a .19 at 7 o'clock in the morning weeks before the NBA draft? How many players has Gonzaga had that have been busted for drugs? I can think of two off the top of my head and neither was kicked off the team.

From the Kaimin:

University of Montana basketball player Kevin Henderson was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Sunday evening.

According to University Police Sergeant Ward DeWitt, Henderson, 20, was driving near campus when a University Police officer saw him drive through a stop sign and stop in the middle of the intersection. The officer pulled Henderson over and, after smelling alcohol on his breath, administered a field sobriety test.

The officer took Henderson to the Missoula City Police department, where he was given a Breathalyzer test. DeWitt said Henderson’s blood-alcohol concentration was above .08.University Police contacted Peggy Kuhr, vice president of integrated communications, and Kent Haslam, athletic director for the University of Montana, about the incident Sunday night. Haslam said that Henderson was given a notice to appear in court. The University is waiting for Henderson’s court date before deciding if he violated UM’s code of conduct for athletes.

“The student-athlete code of conduct is pretty specific,” Haslam said. “It’s a category 2 violation. We’ll look at that suspension from playing.”

Wayne Tinkle, the head coach for men’s basketball at UM, said that Henderson will have to go through the athlete code of conduct process before he is allowed to continue playing for UM.

“He has worked himself into a having a pretty good role in our team,” Tinkle said. “But that’s the least of my concern . . . The team will move forward.”

This sucks, he was a really nice bench player. Good thing we been playing 9-10 deep. Wiley may get some minutes now?

I never said they didn't, I asked if they have a policy forbidding it or not.

And nobody is talking about getting kicked off of teams. Suspension is more like it as in the GONZAGA example:

Found the link for the student code of conduct. I find it mildly amusing and weird that the webpage address for the WHOLE code of conduct has the words 'sexual assault' in it. Is this a U of M thing? LOL

That is pretty weird...

Until the board determines the extent of it. Knowing Wayne, I will be surprised to see him suit up until after the process is complete. I could be wrong here, but have a feeling Wayne's quote literally means they are moving on without him as part of the rotation for awhile. I am sure this did not set well with Wayne, and put him in the doghouse. I believe the team conduct is ZERO drinking during the season, all the time if under age. I do know, Wayne is pretty strict on his policy and administration of team rules. Again, I could be wrong.

Wiley will not get more minutes. Those minutes will be split up between, Deshields, Gregory, Coleman, and Weisner mostly. Maybe some spot minutes for the other guys.
